Our rescue member of the week is Samantha Dahring

Even when situations are difficult, knowing I can help bring some calm, comfort, or assistance to someone having a bad day makes the commitment worthwhile. Just as rewarding is the camaraderie within the department. We train together, respond to calls together, and support each other through the highs and lows. The people I serve alongside have become like a big family, and that sense of belonging is one of the things I cherish most about being part of the department.

Most childhood dreams change over time, but mine apparently stuck. I got the Vergas, marriage, cattle and horses part rightโ€”the jury is still out on whether two kids counts as the big family I was planning on.

Thank you Samantha for your service, your sacrifice, and for being there when it matters most. If you see Samantha in the community, be sure to tell her thank you!

Nicely said Sheriff, we are very proud of our volunteer firemen and rescue members for serving our community!

Appreciation for our First Responders.

Over the past couple of weeks, our communities have experienced numerous traffic crashes involving injuries, serious medical emergencies, and firesโ€”including one tragic fire that took the life of a community member.

When these incidents occur, we rely on our volunteer and paid first responders to answer the call. Whether it is a crash, medical emergency, fire, or another crisis, they respond without hesitation. Often, they leave their jobs, families, and other commitments behind to help someone in need.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge and sincerely thank all of our volunteer and paid first responders for their dedication and commitment to the communities they serve.

Many years ago, I had a family member involved in a motor vehicle crash with injuries. In that frightening moment, I knew there would be qualified, trained, and dedicated responders arriving to help. That knowledge brought comfort during an otherwise difficult situation, and it is something I have never forgotten.

To all of our firefighters, rescue squad members, ambulance crews, and other first responders: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and your selfless service. You are there for us during some of the most difficult moments in our lives, and our communities are stronger because of you.

The next time you see someone from our local fire department, rescue squad, or ambulance service, please take a moment to thank them for their service.

Thank you to all of our first responders for everything you do for our communities!

Respectfully, Sheriff Barry Fitzgibbons

As a chief youโ€™re proud to be the leader of the department. But times like this is when I feel so proud to be the Vergas fire chief.

These two young men have committed to a multi day shift to the boundary waters. Please think of these guys well theyโ€™re gone.

This is the second time weโ€™ve sent a crew out of our area. Amazing our department has such great individuals willing to give their time in times of need.

Our whole community should be proud of these guys and our whole department.

Thanks guys and be safe up there!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our annual fishing tournament! Congratulations to all of you!
