**A little Rose Ridge reflection… ❤️**
As summer winds down, I've found myself thinking a lot about our plans for the cabins.
We talked about it *a lot* this summer. With guests, with family, with each other. And I heard some things that really made me stop and think.
For some of you, these cabins have been part of your family for decades. You've stayed in the same cabin year after year. You know it. You remember it. You have a history here.
And I understand why the idea of changing something you've loved for so long might feel a little bittersweet.
There were definitely moments this summer when I wondered if we were making the right decision.
But now that we're actually in the middle of it, I'm feeling more confident about it than ever.
Not because I think the old cabins weren't good enough.
And not because I want to change what Rose Ridge is.
But because I'm starting to see that this isn't really about **remodeling**.
It's about **preserving.**
As we've opened things up and started working on these cabins, we've discovered things that are happening behind the walls and beneath the surfaces that guests never see.
Sure…we could keep patching things up. We could keep replacing things here and there. We could leave everything exactly as it has been for years.
But eventually that isn’t maintaining a resort. It’s slowly watching it disappear. Structurally and culturally.
The little family-owned “mom and pop” resorts that were once such a big part of lake life are becoming harder to find. We don't want to be part of that disappearing tradition.
We want to preserve it and the memories people have made here for generations.
And we know that means continuing to evolve, too. We want Rose Ridge to still feel like Rose Ridge, while also giving people a reason to choose a small, family-owned resort in a world filled with beautiful vacation homes, Airbnbs and endless lodging options.
We're not just putting a pretty new face on the cabins.
We're giving them new life so they can continue to be here—and continue to be part of people's memories—for many years to come.
And the funny thing is, I think I was worried that in making the cabins nicer, we'd somehow lose some of that old Rose Ridge charm.
But we're not.
They're still cabins.
They're still rustic.
They're still cozy.
They're still Rose Ridge.
They're just becoming a little more beautiful, a little more comfortable, and a whole lot more functional.
And I'm really excited for our guests to see that.
Because I think there's a difference between **changing something you love** and **taking care of something you love.**
That's what we're trying to do.
We're taking care of Rose Ridge.
Not only are we taking care of Rose Ridge, we’re also being stewards of a traditional Minnesota pastime—a way of spending summers at the lake that has been part of this state’s story for generations.
So, to our longtime guests who are a little unsure about all these changes, I hope you'll give us a chance to show you what we're envisioning.
And for those of you who have been cheering us on from the beginning…

We're still a long way from being finished, but standing in Cabin 3 right now, looking through that new sliding door and seeing all that natural light coming in, I have to admit…
**I'm pretty excited about what's ahead.**
