Tucson’s own Newest Sound brings the hip-hop/jazz continuum to life in a special Juneteenth celebration tonight! Drawing from the deep well of Black musical genius including the cosmic soul of Roy Ayers, the crate wizardry of J Dilla, the smooth fire of George Benson, and the neo-soul mastery of D’Angelo, the group transforms these classic sounds into something alive and in the moment.

Featuring ReyMurf and Roch Mirabeau on vocals and beats, Ryan Wheless on saxophone and FX, Desmond New and Troy Covington holding down a double-drum groove, Alassane on keys, and Patrick Morris on bass, The Newest Sound honors the lineage while pushing it forward. This will be a night worth celebrating!

At 10:30pm, Alassane takes over for Late Night - no cover and $2 off cocktails after 10pm!

Saturday night! Miami bassist Mikailo Kasha brings his electrifying quartet to the stage for a night of modern jazz, cinematic textures, and raw energy. Joined by rising star vibraphonist Jalen Baker, pianist Tal Cohen, and drummer Anthony Fung, Kasha leads a group that pushes the boundaries of contemporary jazz.

Mikailo Kasha is an award-winning bassist, composer, and bandleader based in Miami, Florida. Currently considered to be among “the top 1% of bassists worldwide”, as stated by Scotty Barnhart of the Count Basie Orchestra, Kasha is a dynamic bandleader, versatile sideman, and a prodigious voice on both upright and electric bass.

Come celebrate Father’s Day at the Century Room for the 5th annual Horace Silver “Song For My Father” performance! The band will perform songs from the classic album and more Horace Silver classics.

Kids get 1/2 price tickets to the show and guests get 10% off an entree at the Cup Cafe before or after the show by showing their ticket stub! Two shows at 12:30pm and 2:30pm. (The Cup Cafe is closed from 2pm-4pm, so plan accordingly…)

This weekend we welcome back saxophonist Adam Larson for a two night tribute to the legendary Michael Brecker! Larson is a Chicago-born, Kansas City-based tenor saxophonist who has emerged as one of the sharper voices in contemporary jazz. He has prepared a program reflecting on Brecker’s career and collaborations with Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell and the Brecker Brothers.
