Happy Back to School Week 🏫🎒

A couple weeks ago, I was talking with one of the teachers at our Hurricane Deck Elementary when she mentioned how crazy the first week of school is for teachers.

Apparently, the first week of school is what professionals would call a “complete and total circus”. And considering our lake community just survived the Gathering… we feel obligated to help reduce any other circus driven heartache or strain on our systems. 🤡😂

What really got to me is that she mentioned things get so hectic that some teachers don’t even have time to pack a lunch, and how cool it would be if someone provided meals for them that first week.

I immediately started making phone calls, and within MINUTES, local businesses were jumping at the chance to help take care of the people who spend every day taking care of our kids.

As a direct result of that conversation we have officially started “OPERATION: PD DOORDASH”!

All of this week, the Sunrise Beach Police Department is collaborating with local businesses to cater lunches for our hard-working teachers! Today we are kicking things off with:

🌮 Chicken & steak fajitas
🍚 Rice and all the fixings
🌶️ Chips & salsa
🧀 And CHEESE DIP, because margaritas during school hours are frowned upon. 😂

Now if only we could get Sgt. Coonio to stop claiming to be a substitute teacher and back to work! I’m not even sure what he would teach, but he keeps insisting that Lunch be a core subject.

⚠️ (Fair warning: once you order it, someone at your table is absolutely going to ask for a bite.) 🌶Crispy fried shell. Refried beans. Seasoned ground beef. Melted cheese. Fresh lettuce. Diced tomatoes. Sour cream. Guacamole sauce. It's basically everything you wanted from Mexican food stacked into one ridiculously good bite.
