It’s always so much fun bringing a theme to life! From the creative process to the final performance, every part of it brings so much joy. ✨ This year, we decided to take it back to the Soul Train era! 🪩🎶
Soul Train was something we both grew up watching. I remember those Saturday afternoons, sitting in front of the television, watching Soul Train before heading outside to play. Those were the days! It wasn’t just a television show; it was part of our childhood, our culture, and our memories. ❤️
My mother always watched Soul Train with us, and I know I channeled a little bit of her spirit during this performance. She absolutely loved dancing, bell-bottoms, and Afros! My mother transitioned two years ago, but I still feel her love and presence in so many ways. This performance was especially meaningful because it brought back such beautiful memories of her. ❤️
Soul Train was never just about dancing. It was about Black culture, self-expression, fashion, creativity, and JOY! It was a celebration of who we were, how we moved, and how we expressed ourselves through music and dance. It was a cultural experience that brought generations together and left us with memories that still make us smile today.
And this is only a glimpse of our performance! We also incorporated a little history, because you can’t celebrate Soul Train without honoring its incredible legacy and the impact it had on our culture and the world 🌎
And of course, we couldn’t end our performance without the iconic SOUL TRAIN LINE! 🔥💃🏾🕺🏾 You already know we had to bring that energy!
More videos are coming soon, including the historical portion and, of course, the Soul Train line, so stay tuned!
What a beautiful feeling to revisit a piece of our childhood, celebrate our culture, and honor the memories of those who shared it with us. ❤️✨
Peace, Love, and SOOOOUL! 🎶❤️
