It’s Cannoli Day, and we’re not about to let it slip by.

That first crack through the shell, then the cool, sweet ricotta underneath. Few desserts are worth celebrating like this one. Here’s the quick story before you order. The name comes from cannolo, Italian for little tube, after the cane reeds the shells were once wrapped around and fried. It was born in Sicily more than a thousand years ago, the same island Tom’s family comes from. A crisp shell and cool ricotta cream is about as Sicilian as dessert gets.

So here’s the sweet part. This Friday, you can add a cannoli to your Friday Night Dinner for Two. Crisp shell, sweet ricotta cream, your choice of chocolate chips or crushed pistachios, a dusting of powdered sugar. The little moment of joy at the end of the night.

This Friday, June 19th, dinner is house-made meatloaf under a rich mushroom demi-glaze, with creamy Parmesan mashed potatoes, buttered green peas, and sweet mini carrots. Hot, packed, and generous enough for two. $35, cooked fresh the day you pick it up, never pulled from a case.

Sometimes lunch does not need to be complicated.

Sometimes you just need a really good sandwich – the kind with fresh bread, Italian meats and cheeses, bright greens, a little sauce, and enough flavor to make the rest of your day feel better.

A few things to know this week at Buon Cibo:

Friday Night Dinner for Two is back this Friday, June 19th. This week: House-Made Meatloaf with Mushroom Demi-Glaze, Parmesan mashed potatoes, and buttered green peas with mini whole carrots. Hot, comforting, ready to eat, and made for two people who are actually hungry. Pre-order by Thursday at 7 PM, pickup Friday from 4 to 7 PM.

We also have two Summertime Wine Events coming up with Wine Captain Thomas D’Acquisto. Thursday, June 18th has just a few spots left, and Wednesday, June 24th still has a good amount of space available – that is the one to grab now if you want a seat.

Six summer wines, one surprise pour, a full Italian dinner from our kitchen, and a night designed to make wine feel fun, relaxed, and easy to understand.

We almost never get to post these.

Our wine nights with Wine Captain Thomas D’Acquisto sell out from our email list within a day or two of being announced, usually before they ever make it to Instagram. So if you’re reading this here, you’re early, and that almost never happens.

The photos are from the last one: the room full, glasses up, Thomas working the floor and pouring bottle after bottle with the story behind every one.
