A little Raleigh history, served with bourbon. 🥃🍒

The Cherry Bounce dates back to Raleigh’s earliest days, when the cherry-and-spirit drink was reportedly served at Isaac Hunter’s Tavern — a gathering place tied to the story of how Raleigh became North Carolina’s capital.

For Bourbon Heritage Month, we’re bringing that history to The Oak with our own off-menu Cherry Bounce.

Built around basil and pea purée with oyster and shiitake mushrooms, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and lemon parmesan breadcrumbs, it’s fresh, bright, and full of the kind of ingredients we love cooking with this time of year.

One of our favorite things about sitting at the bar is that you don’t always have to know exactly what you want. Sometimes you just need a bartender who knows the right questions to ask. 🥃

A recent guest let Justin take the lead, and an Old Fashioned with spicy and grapefruit bitters quickly became a favorite.
