Dave Rose here - Last night (12/31/18) was our last night open. I came by the bar today to pick up a few things and ran into our door manager John Haburay who had come in to clean. (Yes - you read that right. We are closed, forever, and yet he came in to make sure the place was clean.)
Every business owner dreams of this kind of loyalty, this level of integrity, and co-workers that you can also call friends. (Also worth mentioning, not pictured, is the other John - John Booker - who ran this place and truly made it what it is.)
Until today I haven’t teared up. But when I randomly stopped by and saw Haburay there cleaning - that was my “moment” where it all hit me....
Deep South the Bar is now a sentence, maybe a paragraph if I’m lucky, in Raleigh’s live music history book.
In all aspects of our business - artist management, concerts, and the bar - I am surrounded by amazing people, like John Haburay. He’s just one example of the kind of folks I get to work with everyday and I’m incredibly thankful for our entire team in every division of our company.
Deep South Entertainment, the parent company, isn’t going anywhere. We’ve been around since 1995 and are as entrenched in the music scene as we have ever been. We’ll be seeing you around. A lot.
Thank you for allowing us to have a live music bar in downtown Raleigh for 11 years. And please - continue to support local live music. It’s the heartbeat of Raleigh, and any city for that matter.
See you soon at a show,
Dave
