Join Us for our Sept 22nd lineup at Ecstatic Dance Portland!!! 💗
Our DJ for the night is Ghost Pipe (https://soundcloud.com/ghostpipenj), originally hailing from New Jersey. Ghost Pipe is the ceremonial sound experience of holistic psychotherapist and professor of psychology and counseling, Connor Wills. Ghost Pipe sets tend to lean toward organic tribal beats from West Africa and South America with bass frequencies tastefully layered to support somatic release for the dancer. Those in attendance can also expect to hear sampled vocal wisdom from indigenous leaders and ceremonial plant medicine carriers, experts in trauma healing, and other offerings about self-love consciously woven in throughout each set. This is music as a modality for healing.
We will close the night with sound healing and a gong bath led by Nyssa Grace Castle (). Nyssa is a lifelong musician and multidisciplinary healer with extensive experience in classical sacred music and ancient chants in European and Indian traditions. Her beautiful instruments and eclectic rhythms shift our cells, aid in nervous system integration, and open gentle ways to a better and more healed self and world. The melodious trance may incorporate a 46-inch gong, Himalayan bowls, Native American flute, rain drums, chimes and rattles, guitar, and song.
We will start the evening at 7pm with a “Tutting for Beginners” workshop led by Akash Gamana. Akash has traversed the plains of healing arts and self expression through dance, visual art and music. His background as a meditation instructor, martial artist, yoga teacher and medical massage therapist helps him bring a healing vibe to the party. Well versed in breaking, tutting and multiple other styles of street dance, Akash’s dance classes aid his students in self empowerment coupled with in-depth body awareness. Tutting is a street dance style that involves creating geometric shapes and sharp, robotic angles—mostly 90-degree angles—using your arms, hands, and fingers.
