Seven Hills Honey Small batch raw artisan honey, never heated or filtered. Each batch of honey is kept pure from each location the bees are located at. Michael Metz-Beekeeper

Urban, basswood, wildflower, clover, alfalfa and buckwheat honeys available. Part of the local foods movement is the ability to track the food on your table directly to a local grower. It is our vision that this page will take that to a new level. This page will allow people to follow us beginning at the stage where our hives are mere stacks of lumber. People can then join us in the journey of assembly to painting and placement of the hives, installation of the bees, maintenance and observation of the hives, harvesting of the honey, bottling and packaging of the honey and the production of other bee-products. It will enable people to watch their honey being made, and in the future, allow customers to look back and see what went into their jar of honey or their tube of lip balm. It provides a new appreciation for what goes into each bottle and opportunity for conversations/answers from those making the product and tending to the bees. In addition, times will be updated for opportunities to observe us in action in the hives, and if desired, the opportunity to get hands-on with the bees. This is going to be a learning experience for all involved, as this will be our inaugural year as Langstroth beekeepers. We have a top bar hive at our home for pollination and as a hobby, leaving all of the honey that they produced for the bees to eat through winter. So, get ready to learn all you ever wanted to (and more!) about honeybees and the honey-making process.

Good Morning Port Washington!

Wow! The Summer Market season is at it's end. 😪...until next June.
We started in mid June and had one weekend off for Fish Days. So it is a major weekly commitment. We had two rainy days that did put a major washout on us all. But other than we had fantastic weather and great turnout all summer. Port Main Street did an incredible job on the Fall Street Festival and it just keeps growing. So a big Thank you to them for all they do.
We are here today until 12:30 p.m.
Winter Market starts later in November at Inventor's Brewpub!
Honey is always available for pickup daily at my house off of the table.

Thank you for all of your support from ALL of us vendors at the Farmer's Market. Many will miss seeing you each week until next year.

Happy Halloween and I will bee seeing you!!

Good Evening to all!

Hive moving night.

First off, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Angel Tello! I was able to steal him away from the restaurant for about 2 1/2 hours for him to help me move these.

It doesn't matter how much time I spend closing up the tiniest of holes in the boxes they always find a way out. 🤣🤣

The reason i move some of the hives is because the properties they were on are so far in i really don't want to walk in such a long distance thru snow and ice. Mix in possible flooding come Spring at one yard and harsh winds at another. So they get moved closer to home so I don't need to drive to the western hives as well.

We started at about 5pm and just finished up at 7:30. So it actually went very nicely. A total of 15 hives were moved. I waited until it got a bit cooler with temps dropping the next few days this will hopefully keep them less stressed from neighboring hives.

If it is warm like it has been the hives are susceptible to being robbed and attacked. This way, the other colonies will not sense their weakness and stress of the move.
Fingers crossed that they all survive.
4 of these hives are extremely light. Very little honey in them. Feed will get put on them again soon. These hives have already drank 4 gallons of 2 to 1 sugar feed each. They are hungry. The 4 extremely light ones will be getting sugar boards immediately as well. A few of my boards have a hole on top to allow liquid feed to be placed with the board.
That's all I have for you for tonight. Time to relax.
Couple more markets thru the end of October.
Bee seeing you!

Good day everyone.
I had a removal to do today. I normally don't do them this late in the season but given location they had to be removed.
Colony was located on the underside of a mobile office trailer. The trailer was at the data center area in Racine County. Trailer was moved to the rental company yard in Sturtevant a few weeks ago but bees were not noticed until it was moved 60ft to another parking spot where they were not happy to find the hive moved again.
Colony was pretty small. They probably lost 20-40% of the workers when trailer was 1st moved during the day.Bees were out foraging. And they probably lost a few more when it was moved in the yard. The trailers are 70ft long,3 ft apart and the hive was about 20ft from front of trailer. So finding their entry was not easy and they were not happy. One employee was stung.
So I removed and vacuumed the bees out. I had a queenless hive with about 1000 bees left so I merged them together. They had at least 1 box of honey and are bee-ing fed.
This still have their work cut out for them but I will see what I can do.

Bee seeing you!!

Good Morning Port Washington!

Real quick post here.

All set up for the morning Farmer's Market and then leading into the Fall Street Festival which starts at 11 until 5 p.m.

BUT us "regular " market vendors are here and open now.

I have a few really special batches with today that I have been holding off on bringing.
My R2 in red has a raspberry taste to it. I cannot be certain that is what they got into but the flavor is a real gentle berry floral and smooth taste.
I also have from the same yard the smoothest basswood I ever had.

Fresh poured candles as well today.

Bee seeing you!

Good Morning everyone!

Tomorrow is the big Fall Street Festival!
And the weather looks like it will bee absolutely perfect for it.

Technically the regular Farmer's Market does not start until the festival starts at 11a.m....however..we are needing to be in early for when the streets are closed down so many of us regular vendors will be set up and take sales early. I should have my stuff set up by 8:30 like I usually do. And the veggies across from me will be available as well. Steve comes way early for setting up. 🤣 And he will probably have literally a ton of pumpkins.
It goes until 5 p.m. I believe as like in the past there is 2 stages of live music, a car show and apparently there will be some old military birds flying over, so that should be really cool.
Now if you want to avoid the crowds, come early or the table on the porch will be set as always.
Bee seeing you!!

Good Morning Port Washington!

Oh what a difference the week makes. That rain was a real drag last week. I don't blame many of you for staying home.
But not a cloud in the sky and Fall has moved in quickly. So come on down and enjoy this fantastic weather.

I still have a nice selection of cut comb honey. Probably the best looking, full pieces my bees have ever produced.

We are in downtown Port now until 12:30p.m.

Bee seeing you!!
