Today we'd like to take a moment to acknowledge a man who wears approximately 47 hats around here 😉

Meet Derek Stallman.

Many of you already know Derek as the guy hosting our Celtic Strings Session on Sundays.

What you may not know, is that in the days prior... Derek has already bartended, prepped food, washed dishes, gardened, bussed tables, stocked coolers, solved a problem, fixed another problem, and quietly handled at least three things nobody else even noticed needed handling.

We're not actually sure where one Derek ends and several other Dereks begin. At this point we've stopped asking questions.

What we do know, is that Derek has been an incredibly important part of Rosie’s. Reliable. Capable. ULTRA talented. Kind. And the sort of person who simply sees what needs to be done and does it.

No fuss. No fanfare. Just consistency. And in this business, there is no greater quality than consistency!

On top of it all... he still somehow finds the energy to fill the room with music every Sunday afternoon.

That is true passion for your craft, from both angles, and frankly, it feels a little show-offy... We love it!😎

If you've enjoyed a Sunday session, a well-mixed drink, a clean bar, a stocked kitchen, a smooth shift, or a problem you never knew existed because Derek already solved it...

Tell the man thank you.

We're lucky to have him.

As we count down to Rosie’s first anniversary, we're celebrating the things, events, and people, who have made this place what it is today…

And today, that person is Gabby.

When you own a business, people often assume the hardest part is the financing, the construction, the permits, the equipment, or the long hours. It isn't.

The hardest part is finding people you trust.

People who care when you're not looking.
People who do things correctly when nobody is checking.
People who take pride in the details because that's simply who they are.

Gabby is one of those people.

Gabby has been here since the beginning of Rosie's, and was in this room previously, bar-backing her way through the hospitality industry. Today, she is one of our primary bartenders.

Watching stories like this expand, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of this whole journey.

The thing about Gabby is that she has both heart and hustle.

Everything she does, she does correctly.

She doesn't cut corners.

She doesn't look for shortcuts.

She takes pride in her work, and it shows.

She has one of the strongest internal quality-control systems we've ever encountered in another human being.

If you have had the pleasure of meeting Gabby, you already know she is incredibly sweet. What you might not know, is she is also completely unwilling to tolerate nonsense.

For someone so kind, she is an absolute force and we're grateful for the accountability she brings.

Rosie’s is better because she's part of it.

If you've ever enjoyed an evening cocktail here, chances are good you've already experienced some of Gabby's magic.

And if not, today's your lucky day.

It's Tuesday.

Gabby's behind the bar.

Go say hello.

❤️

Well it's Monday... welp, Tuesday... and we're behind schedule again.

So Port Angeles...

This one's for you ❤

Seriously.

You absolutely kicked our ass this weekend!

In the BEST way possible. ❤️

We sold out of pilsner.

We sold out of cider.

We sold out of a whole bunch of other things we were very confident we had enough of.

At one point, we found ourselves staring into nearly empty fridges asking:

"Wait... ALL of it?"

Yes.

ALL of it.

After nearly a year in business, we'd like to think we're getting pretty good at forecasting.

This weekend suggests otherwise.

Hats off and a huge thank you to everyone who came down for a cocktail, a pizza, some music, or a quiet afternoon with friends. ❤️

These are the kinds of weekends small business owners dream about, and the kind that remind us why all the hard work is worth it.

We're well stocked again, and you might even find some impromptu surprises lingering if you know how to ask. 😉

We'll be revisiting some assumptions.

We'll regroup.

And we'll try not to underestimate Port Angeles again.

---

Since apparently you all have chosen chaos...

We're doubling down on cider options.

We've secured pilsner backups.

And we've got another big weekend ahead.

Our all-time favorite epic art makers, GRISTLE, will be here Friday, June 12th.

And Saturday is our birthday bash! With Tevis Hodge Jr.. 9–11 PM, followed by Chris Spillman, Jai Porter, Dan Stacy, and word has it… some very special surprise guests, who will be taking things in a completely different direction from 11 PM until... whenever the party decides it's over.

We're looking forward to it!

Ready for round two? 😘

We think we are... please, come show us otherwise ❤️

We had intended to post yesterday's Daily Gratitude... yesterday.

Then restaurant life happened.

The week has been consumed by the usual small business adventures. So yesterday's gratitude is simply about being grateful for flexibility.

For the ability to adapt when the plan changes. For a team that keeps finding solutions. For guests who continue to support what we're building.

For an incredible weekend of music with PENT and DUBble Standard!!

And for the occasional reminder that running a restaurant is less about executing the plan and more about gracefully recovering from whatever just happened to our plan 😂

Oh well. Better late than never 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for sticking with us ! 😘

Okay, we're nine days away from the 13th, and we're going to share a little bit of behind-the-scenes action with this one…

When our pizza oven arrived, the crate weighed over 400 pounds. It needed to be unboxed, positioned, and lifted onto its current home.

We expected it to be difficult. Instead, Chris, Hannah, Guy, Owl, and Justin all miraculously appeared.

✨No formal plan.
✨No moving company.
✨No professional equipment.

Just a handful of musicians who looked at a giant crate and decided, "Yeah, we got this."

What followed next was a highly technical operation involving beer, teamwork, problem solving, questionable physics, lots of laughter, absolutely no OSHA regulations, and at least one collective moment where we all probably silently agreed not to think about what could happen if somebody lost their grip.

The good news is: everyone's fingers survived. So did the oven. And we've been feeding people ever since.

We think the pizza tastes better knowing who moved the oven ❤

---

But that's not the only saga in the adventures with this pizza oven. Oh no!

We operate with a hybrid oven; meaning it can run on propane, wood, or both. During our first summer of operations, the element went out and we were relegated to strictly wood...

Which meant we suddenly needed a LOT of firewood. Like quantity. Immediately.

Enter Jess of Bread & Gravy.

Jess helped us load and unload firewood... in his van!

He saved our entire operation on a day his band wasn't even playing.

Jess went out of his way to save the show that day, and we're pretty sure Stephanie sent him. Thanks sis! 😘

As part of this same chapter, it's also worth mentioning that Gray's Motors stepped in and loaned us a pickup so we could haul additional firewood and discontinue messing up the Bread and Gravy van 😂

--

The thing about opening a business is that people tend to focus on the visible parts.

What they don't see are the hundreds of moments taking place behind the scenes. Moments that build towards the overall atmosphere and experience. The scramble juxtaposed the support. The chaos faced off with rapid coordination.

Rosie's is bigger than one person. Note: there is no Rosie. It's a concept. We can do it.

Sure we took some pretty big risks to get the gears going… and it's been a remarkable trust fall exercise.

But truth is, this place wasn't built by just any single one of us. It's been built by all of those who caught us mid freefall along the way.
We think that's pretty incredible.

Thank you! ❤️

Interrupting our daily gratitude countdown to announce that PENT will be taking over the room tonight at Rosie's, 9-11pm. 🎵

If you haven't had the oprotunity to hear Pent yet, you've probably at least heard about them. This will be one powerhouse performance you won't want to miss!! ❤

And it's their first time playing at Rosie's. 🌹

Fun fact: In the last year, our weekend music program alone, has featured over 60 different bands and solo acts! We think that's pretty cool 😎

Barry... everyone's favorite fourth grade teacher, spent a lifetime educating our community, and he continues to teach us new things every Thursday at Rosie's.

To be fair, we're not entirely convinced he ever retired. Rumor has it he still assigns homework 😉

Barry fills our space with laughter, music, familiar faces, and the kind of joyful participation that reminds us music isn't meant to be consumed. It's meant to be shared.

His sing-alongs remain one of the most beloved traditions in the room.

Week after week, Barry shows up, guitar in hand, ready to create a room where everyone belongs. In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, there is something special about a room full of people singing together.

Thank you Barry, for your consistency, your kindness, your talent, and for helping make Rosie’s feel a little more like home ❤️

❗️SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT❗️

Following Tevis Hodge Jr (9-11pm) on Saturday, June 13th, the music isn't over… No we will NOT be closing…
Chris Spillman and a few special guests will be joining us AFTER HOURS for an extended anniversary celebration!!

If you've never experienced a Wednesday night with Christopher Spillman at Rosie’s, we're honestly a little confused about what you've been doing with your Wednesdays 😉

So here's your chance to fix that, on a Saturday.
And while we're talking about Chris…

One of our favorite things about him isn't just his talent. It's his instinct.

Chris has an uncanny ability to know what people need.

The room. The musicians. The audience. The moment.
Chris pays attention in a way that is rare.

Every Wednesday, he helps shape the energy of Rosie’s. Not just by hosting acoustic nights, but by creating opportunities, bringing people together, and somehow always knowing what will make the experience a little better for everyone involved.

For someone constantly wrapped up in a thousand different projects at any given moment, Chris has been incredibly generous with his time, energy, ideas, and support.

Most recently, he helped Rosie’s acquire a 🎶house sound system🎶 that every musician, guest, and closing bartender, has greatly benefited from!

That's who Chris is.
He doesn't just contribute to the music scene.
He strengthens it. ❤

We're fortunate to have his help.

As we count down to Rosie’s first anniversary, we want to spend some time celebrating the things and people who've helped make this place what it is.

Today, that person is Stew Mueller.

Most people know Stew as the frontman for Professor. What many people don't see, is everything he does for us behind the scenes.

Since before we even opened, Stew Muller has shaped our weekend music calendar; connecting us with musicians, coordinating schedules, solving problems, and making sure there's always something worth listening to on a Friday and Saturday night.

Building a live music venue requires more than just a room and a sign. It takes relationships. It takes a whole lot of communication. And it takes people who care enough to keep showing up.

Stew has been one of those people.

If you've ever enjoyed a weekend band at Rosie’s, just know, there's a 100% chance Stew had a hand in making that happen. 👏👏👏

Thanks for the music, the support, and for helping us build something special. 💜

We literally couldn't have done Year One without you.

🎉 Rosie’s is Turning One! 🎉

One year ago, we unlocked our doors for the first time on Friday the 13th.

Some people avoid tempting fate... We threw a party.

One year later... We're still here, somehow having even more fun! And this time, the 13th falls on a Saturday 😉

So mark your calendars. Bring your friends.

Saturday, June 13th, we're celebrating one full year of cocktails, music, pizza, friendship, chaos, community, and whatever else it is we've managed to build together down here on the waterfront over the last 365 days.

Join us as we raise a glass to an incredible first year with:

⏳Extended hours
🍸 New cocktail specials
📖 A few new concepts we've been quietly working on behind the scenes
🎶 Live music from Tevis Hodge Jr. (9–11 PM)
🎵 Extra music from Chris Spilllman, Jai Porter, and Dan Stacy from 11pm - ...
❤️ Stories, memories, and a celebration of the musicians, staff, regulars, friends, and supporters who helped make Rosie’s what it is today.

Cheers to Year One 🥂..And to whatever good trouble we get into in Year Two.
