MAY WINE CLUB: AUSTRIA

Welcome to one of wine’s greatest overachievers: tiny in size, impossibly big in personality. Austria has spent centuries quietly perfecting elegant whites, vibrant reds, and some of the most food-friendly wines in the world—where alpine freshness meets serious wine nerd magic. Think steep vineyards, native grapes, sustainable farming, and wines that somehow feel both classic and wildly cool.

This month we’re wandering from crisp river valleys to sun-soaked Burgenland and tasting our way through some of Austria’s icons:

🥂 **2024 Stadt Krems Riesling – Kremstal**
Electric and mineral with lime blossom, peach, wet stone, and citrus zip. Austria’s Riesling tends to be dry, focused, and incredibly ageworthy—this one is all about precision and freshness.

🦎 **2022 Zantho St. Laurent – Burgenland**
One of Austria’s most beloved reds. Juicy black cherry, raspberry, subtle spice, and a silky texture that drinks somewhere between Pinot Noir and something delightfully Austrian. Elegant but with attitude.

🌿 **2024 Hugl Grüner Veltliner**
The grape that put Austria on the map. Grüner is famous for bright citrus, green apple, white pepper, and mouthwatering acidity. Crisp, refreshing, and basically born for food.

🌸 **2023 Biokult Zweigelt Meets Pinot Noir**
A playful blend where Austria’s signature red grape meets international charm. Expect red berries, soft florals, a little earth, and an easygoing, juicy finish.

💙 **NV Felix BLAU – Blaufränkisch**
Austria’s cool-kid red. Dark berries, cracked pepper, fresh herbs, and lively acidity with just enough structure to keep things interesting. Think energetic, not heavy.

🌷 **Pratsch Rosé – Niederösterreich**
Fresh strawberries, watermelon, citrus peel, and spring flowers wrapped into one bottle. Organic, bright, and dangerously easy to sip.
