Hi! Owen here. This has been coming up often again so it probably makes sense to just put this on blast to avoid confusion. Apologies if you already know this. When we feature a band on The Hanging Garden Radio Show (which we do most weeks) the band is -actually- there on the show with me. We chat about all sorts of weird things, because you know how I am with folx, we play music, and just generally have fun. So, for instance, when I tell you this week's band on the show is Stabbing Westward (which it is), their frontperson, Chris Hall, is really there. Or, in the case of next week, Wolfie from Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. ...And, on and on. It's SO AWESOME because we get to actually meet so many of the artists we love hearing in our lives or moving to on the dancefloor!
The thing is that at the clubs we often do nights featuring bands but it usually means we play a wide range of their music, not that they are actually at the club, so it's obvious how people would misconstrue this with The Hanging Garden Radio Show, but whether it's IAMX, Laeather Strip, Mareux, HEALTH, Martin Atkins, Rose McDowall, or any of the others-- And, after 12 years, we're talking about a lot of people-- They really are there. And, that matters because after the broadcast ends all the episodes are converted to podcasts that can be played anywhere at anytime by anyone, so it's never too late to hear our favorite folx.
Most of us in our community are really passionate about our music so I want to do what I can to let people know this is available because if there is a band you especially love from the goth/industrial/darkwave/deathrock/EBM/post-punk/etc genre, there is a really good chance they've been on the show, whether they're -relatively- new (i.e. Night Club, Twin Tribes, etc) or legendary (i.e. Thrill Kill Kult, Andi S*x Gang, etc). I want you to be able to enjoy it. That's one of the main reasons I do the show at all. All you need to do is search "Hanging Garden Radio Show" and the podcast version of the show will pop right up. And, if there is a specific artist you want to hear, just include their name in your search. Again, by this point, there is a really good chance that if you've heard them at a club they may have an episode. I just want you to enjoy this as much as I do.
I hope this clears things up. Thanks for letting me share my musical passion and general weirdness with you each week. Talk with you Tuesday or whenever you podcast us.
