The MacArthur Garage Brewery is is an “off-the-grid” public house brewery in Oakland, CA. We are steeped in local culture, history and the fight for social justice. Our aim is provide the social lubricant to agitate the activist in all of us. Beer is primarily made of malted barley. Although you can find some local ingredients and locally made craft beer, you can’t find locally grown and malted grains to brew with. Our goal is to establish a micro-malting house in Oakland California; help end the dependence on multi-national corporate produced malt; and add an integral part of a local beer economy. We're also aiming to contract brew with a local craft brewery and possibly looking at craft distilling to make a truly local spirits and beer with local ingredients and supporting the local economy. The storied Anchor Brewing Company of San Francisco has announced that they would cease sales of all Anchor beers in the US except for in California. They will also discontinue making the iconic Anchor Christmas Ale.
