Pozole Para Todxs is our new seasonal Community Offering - a warm bowl of pozole verde bursting with flavor and texture. Our Community Offering has been a staple on our menus since we opened in 2021 and it is an invitation to pay what you can, no one will be turned away for lack of funds!

Dinner is shifting a little at Understory.
New hours, new energy, and a new menu we’ve been quietly working on.

Starting this week, dinner service will be:
Thursday–Friday
4PM–8:30PM

We’ve been leaning into dishes that feel bright, layered, and rooted in the season. Things meant for slower evenings, sharing across the table, or pairing with a drink after work.

A little sweet, a little heat, a lot of color.

We’ll also be rolling out more small plates, rotating specials, and new cocktails over the next few weeks as we continue shaping what evenings at Understory can feel like in Fruitvale.

Come by for dinner. Bring a friend. Stay awhile.

We’re shifting into a new rhythm at Understory.

Starting this week, we’re expanding into daytime cafe hours while keeping dinner service a little more limited as we continue finding a pace that feels sustainable for our team and aligned with our community. We’ve been hearing from folks wanting more daytime space to gather, work, meet, and eat, and we’re excited to lean into that.

This week’s hours:

Cafe
Tuesday-Friday | 10AM-3:30PM

Dinner
Thursday + Friday | 4PM-8:30PM with Happy Hour (4-6PM)

(Please note: dinner service will be closed this Thursday + Friday for private events.)

Brunch
Saturday + Sunday | 11AM-3PM

We’re also working on something special for June.

Saturday nights are coming back in a new way with rotating evening pop ups, collaborations, community dinners, and special events.

More details soon.
