Founded in 1915 by four Madeiran immigrant men who wanted to recreate the religious festivals that were so common in the villages of their home island and to commemorate their safe passage to these American shores, this traditional mid-summer gathering for family and friends has become the Largest Portuguese Feast in the World and the largest ethnic festival in New England. The Feast attracts hund

reds of thousands of visitors from around the globe. Throughout its history, men of Madeiran heritage and their families have made the feast possible by their generous contributions of time and labor. Each year at the conclusion of the feast, the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento selects a committee of festeiros to organize the next year's event. One must first serve on a Feast Committee to be eligible for full membership in the Club Madeirense S.S. A club member may serve on a Feast Committee only once every five years with the exception of special anniversary years. All members of the Feast Committee can trace their Madeiran Portuguese heritage through at least one of their parents. The Feast has something to please everyone. Presenting a delightful menu of Portuguese cuisine and continuous Entertainment at four performance locations including cabaret performances in our museum courtyard. Plus, we present a full carnival midway of rides and games. Each year on Sunday, we bring the city of New Bedford's largest parade to the streets of the North End. At this years Feast, more than 100,000 visitors are expected to enter the grounds of the feast - all at no charge. The Feast with all of its entertainment remains an admission free event. Come see for yourself and bring your family. The Feast is an opportunity for all to share in the rich Madeiran heritage and family values. Since 1998, the Feast has presented a special Saturday afternoon of children's entertainment. The Kid's Day program has grown over the years and this year is chock full of wonderful entertainment that will please the child in us all. Recreated in the architectural style of the village houses of Santana, Madeira, this building is the location where we serve the world-reknowned Madeira Wine. Or visit the Museum of Madeiran Heritage which will be open to the public at no charge throughout the Feast. The Museum is the only one of its kind in America and houses a comprehensive collection of photographs and artifacts that tell the story of Madeiran immigration to the United States. Take some time to enjoy cooking a skewer full of the best barbecue beef available. Our 40 foot barbecue pit is one of a kind - all built and maintained by club members. The surrounding barracas (food stands) and latada (grape arbor) create an old world ambience that is true to our Madeiran heritage.

Beyond sales of 10 million records, four top 10 songs, over a billion streams, and millions of tickets sold, Sugar Ray—co-founded by Mark McGrath [vocals] and Rodney Sheppard [lead guitar]—embody the endless summer of popular music and culture. How many artists still pack amphitheaters a whole generation removed from their genesis? How many acts can claim sharing the stage with The Rolling Stones, KISS, and S*x Pistols, collaborating with Run-DMC, and being interpolated by Post Malone? Just Sugar Ray...

1994’sLemonade & Brownies took the guys around the world and earned cult classic status for its frenetic and unpredictable hybrid. It set the stage for FLOORED in 1997. The latter’s immortal lead single “Fly” [feat. Super Cat] made them a household name. 21 years down the road, Post Malone incorporated “Fly” in “Sugar Wraith” on the triple-platinum beerbongs & Bentleys. Helmed by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer David Kahne [Sublime, Paul McCartney, The Strokes], FLOORED earned the band’s first gold plaque and eventually went double-platinum. Two years later,14:59bowedin the Top 20 of the Billboard Top 200, went triple-platinum, and gave us “Someday,” “Falls Apart,” and their second #1 “Every Morning.” In 2001, Sugar Ray crashed the Top 200 at #6 as “When It’s Over” staked out a spot on the charts. It added another platinum plaque to their walls. Enjoying a renaissance, Sugar Ray headlined the Under the Sun Tour 2013-2015. They inked a deal with BMG in 2019 and dropped their seventh full-length, Lil Yachty. In addition to features from Rolling Stone and Billboard, NPR claimed, “The Newport Beach natives returned to their signature uplifting and airy rock sound.” It only set the stage for more touring and music. No matter how much everything changes, we’ve got Sugar Ray forever.

No dia 10 de junho comemoramos o Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas, lembrando-nos de que os portugueses e os lusodescendentes presentes em quase todos os países do mundo, em todos os continentes, mantêm viva uma estreita relação com Portugal e contribuem fortemente para os países onde vivem.
Os portugueses que escolheram os Estados Unidos da América para viver, e os seus descendentes, são testemunho de uma integração exemplar. E são, ao mesmo tempo, destacados e orgulhosos representantes das nossas tradições e dos nossos valores.
Ao longo das décadas têm assegurado - e continuam a assegurar -, um registo notável de sucesso, reconhecido nas mais diversas áreas da sociedade norte-americana. Podemos confirmar isso pelo crescente interesse na nossa língua, cultura, gastronomia, história e música, bem como nas oportunidades que a nossa economia, as nossas empresas e as nossas instituições oferecem. Esse interesse, alicerçado num maior conhecimento de Portugal e das suas valências, muito tem contribuído para reforçar a proximidade e os laços entre os dois países e para abrir novas oportunidades de cooperação bilateral.
Este é um ano especial, pela realização do Campeonato do Mundo de Futebol da FIFA nos EUA, México e Canadá, para o qual olhamos com entusiasmo nas próximas semanas. Como sempre, também os portugueses e os luso-americanos estarão unidos no apoio à nossa seleção em todos os momentos.
Também este ano, no contexto das comemorações dos 250 anos da Declaração de Independência dos Estados Unidos da América, teremos o Navio-Escola Sagres em vários portos da Costa Leste, celebrando, com Vinho Madeira, a amizade perene entre os dois povos e este aniversário tão importante, honrando os pais fundadores dos Estados Unidos, que brindaram com Vinho Madeira aquando da assinatura da Declaração de Independência.
Por estas razões, é ainda mais marcante este ano o conjunto de celebrações do Dia de Portugal, eventos maioritariamente organizados pelos clubes e associações das nossas comunidades, e que têm sido, ao longo dos anos, renovados sinais de dinamismo, de dedicação e de orgulho no nosso país e nas nossas raízes portuguesas.

GRUPO FOLCLÓRICO DO CLUBE MADEIRENSE S.S. SACRAMENTO GETS INVITED TO THE 2026 EUROPEAN UNION EMBASSY OPEN HOUSE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament and the Clube Madeirense S.S. Sacramento is incredibly excited and honored to share that our own Folclórico Group had been invited to travel to Washington, D.C. for the 2026 European Union Embassy Open House!

Founded in 1979 in New Bedford, Massachusetts by Ms. Dulce Reis, our group has proudly dedicated itself to preserving and promoting the rich folklore traditions of Madeira within one of the largest Madeiran communities in the United States. This invitation is a meaningful recognition of our decades-long commitment to cultural preservation, community outreach, and sharing the unique music, dance, and heritage of Madeira with audiences of all backgrounds.

Thank you to Portugal’s U.S. Ambassador Dr. Francisco Duarte Lopes and Press and Public Diplomacy Officer Mafalda Paiva e Silva for allowing us this incredible invitation to our nation’s capital. We would also like to acknowledge embassy DCM Dr. Pedro Carneiro and Ana Teresa Freitas for their support. As part of this special celebration of Europe Day, marking the historic Schuman Declaration, we are proud to represent Madeiran culture on an international stage while celebrating 250 years of shared history between Europe and the United States.
