Good morning gang…I was going to type this yesterday, but just didn’t have the energy to rattle off another typical, season ending email. They all have similar story lines, and usually our Bills give the NFL, a “game of the year” type of game, where we’re always the loser ☹ Saturday was no different. No need to tell you the score, or that we did what we always do which is do just enough to lose the game. We didn’t punt the entire game, but sadly Josh had his worst playoff game, and maybe one of the bottom 5 of his career. His fumble at the half, or his numerous missed throws that could have won the game, we’re huge. Another season ending game where not one defensive lineman made a play other than rookie Deone Walker. I mean every season ending game, the defensive line goes in to the “witness protection program”, never to be seen or heard from…We go up late in the game, ok defense shut them down…nope…right down the field for an easy TD. Two freaking plays where our starters go out for a play, and bam…Denver hits two TD’s against a guy I never even knew was on the team, Savage, and Dane Jackson. We have a chance to basically end the game up 1 and having the ball…do we score a TD? Of course not, FG. Can we hit a wide-open Dawson Know with 10 seconds left in the game to win it? Once again, nope! Then the play…I’ve watched a lot of football, and have seen that called a catch more times than not. The fact that they didn’t even stop the game to review it, is unreal, but are we really surprised? And to me, the bigger issue on that one is Cooks???, you can’t come down with the ball and not let the guy take it from you? Nope…what would a Bills season be without a play like that to not go our way? And lastly, the zebras. In a game where they must have huddled up before and during the game and said, let’s let them play and call almost nothing (no INT on Cooks in the endzone that would have won the game), they all of a sudden decide to call two game ending pass INT’s on the Bills for 57 yards and an easy win for the Bronco’s. Bravo NFL! I’m not a conspiracy, the league is fixed guy, but for the millions of fans that think the NFL is rigged, they provided a textbook case to think, “you know, maybe they do determine the outcome of games”. I feel terrible for Josh because as I said, he didn’t play well, but I’m sure I speak for all Bills fans, that there’s no other QB on the planet that I’d rather have leading our team.

Speaking of leading our team…I’m sure you’ve all heard the big news. Sean McDermott has been let go. First, I want to say, thank you Sean!!! You are a class act, grade A human being, and you were instrumental in turning a sorry franchise around and providing a great, winning culture for the Bills. You gave us all many, many great times and memories. If the league was about liking our head coach, and how many regular season good times the team provided, you’d be our guy for the next 20 years. However, this is the NFL, and as Jerry Glanville once told a ref probably 30 years ago, it stands for “Not For Long”, and 9 years is almost an eternity to not get a team with a QB like Josh Allen to at least a Super Bowl appearance. It’s a results-based business, so in my opinion, the Bills can’t continue to roll out the same leadership year after year, and expect a different result. I believe Beane needed to go first, as his drafts have been marginal at best, he overpays too many guys, has proven he can’t find any decent defensive lineman, and how many years do we have to watch him give Josh nothing at the WR position? Somehow Beane must have won the power struggle and now Pegula has also made him President. The Bills have a lot of older players that should probably be off the team next year, and I’m hoping for a big roster turnover. Do I have faith Beane will get it done the right way? Not really, but I guess time will tell. Beane has not done himself any favors with the salary cap, as I believe we’re up against the cap, with a very average roster. I guess Pegula didn’t consider this, so we all have to hope somehow Beane finally starts to assemble a much better roster. The first step though is finding the right HC. I’d like to see an offensive minded coach who brings in a great DC. I know a lot can go wrong, but I was getting tired of the Ground Hog Day way, every season ends with the Bills. Let’s all cross our fingers and toes that we are on the path to getting this team to its first Super Bowl title before our unicorn, Josh, retires!

Have a great offseason, and as always GO BILLS!!!

Good afternoon gang and welcome to VICTORY MONDAY…hell yes!!! Our Buffalo Bills pulled off a come from behind victory, 27 – 24, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This game had many story lines, but the overall one was simply this…We have Josh, and they have Trevor…game, set, match for the Bills!!! 😊 Josh was physically beaten up all game long, but made big play, after big play. Lawrence, on the other hand, made many bad throws, threw two picks and could have had a few more, and on the final drive, threw a horrible pass in to tight coverage, for a game ending interception. Huge shout out to Tre White! He made plays all game and looked like the stud he used to be when the Bills first drafted him. Even though Jacksonville completely shut down the rushing game, Allen found Shakir for 12 receptions and spread the ball out to the other receivers for a very efficient passing game. At this time of the year, the only stat that matters is scoreboard, and with the win, the Bills are on to the next round.

I have to vent a little bit about a topic I try and stay away from, but yesterday, it was hard to ignore. The refs were brutal! Jacksonville was “knee hunting” most of the game, and took out Gabe Davis on a cheap shot, almost got Cook, and more than once, hit Josh late or in the head, and refs did nothing. The Cooks catch was called a catch on the field, but yet they did their typical NFL thing where they said, well maybe it wasn’t so let’s reverse it. Whatever happened to, replay is supposed to only reverse a call, if the evidence is irrefutable??? The call at the end of the half where Jacksonville was no where near set, and the replay clearly showed no time left when they snapped the ball. Instead of, “half over”, no, let’s call a penalty on Buffalo and let them try a field goal with one second left…wtf? Many holding calls not called, especially on the Jags long TD run, and in the end, they called a mere two false starts in the entire game on the Jags for a total of 10 yards. Seriously??? It was one of those games where the Bills had to play the other team and the zebras, but they still prevailed. Let’s hope that’s our one “hose job” by the refs, of the play-offs.

Who’s up next?…the Denver Broncos for a Saturday game (time will be 4:30 or 8:00 and announced after tonight’s game). Bennett’s was packed yesterday with about 140 people so if you want a seat in the main room, try and get there early. Enjoy your week, and as always…

GO BILLS!!!

Good afternoon gang...Our Buffalo Bills easily defeated the hapless, New York Jets, 35 - 8 in a relatively meaningless game, in terms of play-off seeding, but in terms of emotion...it was epic! No need to discuss the plays, players, shout outs, refs, what went right, what went wrong...this game was all about the stadium. While I wasn't at the game, I felt different watching this one. It felt like a chapter of my life was ending, but thankfully it's not really ending, just changing. Geographically, they're just moving across the street, but no stadium in the league will ever replicate "The Ralph"! I have memories of going to games the year the stadium opened in 1973, being at the 51 - 3 conference final against the Raiders, and thinking, "we're actually going to the Super Bowl", attending the two other conference finals in the stadium, Denver and the Carlton Bailey play, Bruck Smith knocking out Joe Montana in the final one, Jim Kelly's first game in September of 86 knowing, we have a serious franchise QB, and even the heartbreak game of 1/2/05 where all the Bills had to do was beat the Steelers back-ups to make the play-offs, but they fell short, and of course the many, many more over the last 53 years. There was something special about entering the stadium and being part a communal feeling with other Bills fans. Marv Levy said it best, "where else would you rather be, than right here, right now"?! While it's sad in a way, I'm fired up about their new home, and can't wait to see how the new stadium delivers many special memories.

Well...on to the play-offs! I'm not going to sugar coat it. I hope I'm wrong, but Jacksonville will not be easy. The Bills haven't won a road play off game in over 30 years, and Jacksonville has been firing on all cylinders on offense, and their defense can stuff the run. Brady needs to call a great game and throw in some new wrinkles, the offensive line needs to protect Josh, and McDermott and Babich have to come up with a plan to slow down the Jags high powered offense. At this time of year, it's "one game at a time". With the Sunday, 1:00 o'clock kick-off, I'm thinking we'll have a fired up, overflow crowd at Bennett's. Ben let me know we'll be in our Bills room, and if we have a packed house, every TV in the bar area, and main dining room will have the game on with the sound up. For those of you who came out about 6 years ago for the Houston play-off game, we had 240 at Bennet's and other than the outcome, it was great time with a ton of energy. Come on out if you can, and as always....

GO BILLS!!!

Good morning gang…our Buffalo Bills eked out a win against a bad Cleveland Brown team, 23 – 20. It wasn’t pretty and there’s a lot of negative I could point out (horrible 2nd half performance by Josh and the offense, dropped passes by Knox and Cooks, again, dumb tripping penalty on Milano that led to 7 points for the Browns, the defense getting gashed by the run all game long, another game where the Bills can’t complete passes to WR’s), but at this time of the year, “a win is a win”, I guess. In a league where quarterbacks go down all the time, we’re blessed to have a QB like Josh that seemingly can take hits and still get up and play. Hopefully, his ankle injury is nothing serious or that it’s a nagging injury that interferes with his ability to step in to throws and make great plays with his legs. James Cook was the biggest reason the Bills won yesterday. Along with his highlight reel TD run, he finished the day with a 7.3 yard average per run and 2 touchdowns. He now also leads the league in rushing! And, I’ve called out Greg Rousseau more than once in my recaps for basically being a ghost or non-factor, but yesterday, I noticed him on more than a few plays, and he led the team with 2.5 sacks. We need that more often from you Mr. Rousseau 😊 And, how about the “old man”, Jordan Poyer? He was flying around the field all day making big plays and also came up with a pick. The Bills are getting “long in the tooth” on defense with guys like Poyer, White, Milano, Johnson, and Bosa, but if they can all stay healthy and make plays in the playoffs, get Oliver back and Benford at 100%, who knows???

With the win, the Bills are 11 – 4 and still have an uphill task to take the AFC East. We all know the math…Bills need to win last two games and hope New England stumbles against the Jets or Dolphins. Next up, a 4:25 kick-off at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. Come on out to Benett’s if you can…Merry Christmas and as always, GO BILLS!!!

Good morning gang...games like yesterday never get old, and remind us why we all love watching our favorite team. The Bills staged another comeback thriller, and beat the Patriots, 35 - 31!!! After spotting New England a 24 - 7 halftime lead, and driving Bills Nation crazy where I'm sure 90% of us, we're yelling at the screen for the first 30 minutes, Josh and Company, steam rolled the Patsies in the 2nd half. They could not be stopped, and if you leave out the one play New England made on offense in the 2nd half, the Bill's defense held them to 15 yards on 17 plays. What did the offense do...SCORE TD AFTER TD!!! I marvel at how the offense puts up over 30 points in so many games when I look at their WR room and say do we have a guy that any other team in the league would want? I mean seriously, the team is filled with a bunch of guys that don't seem to separate, but the "Josh Factor" just seems to lead to points in so many ways. Shout outs to the running game with Cook and Allen combining for 156 yards, Allen and his pedestrian clutch plays and 3 passing TD's., Knox (2 TD's) and Kincaid made plays, and we finally saw Shakir have a decent day with 5 catches for 65 yards. A special shout out to Ray Davis. He set the tone to start the 2nd half with a great return and averaged 41 yards on 4 kick-offs! On defense, Matt Milano was all over the field reminding us of how great he used to be and hopefully still can be...he finished the game with 2 big sacks and 10 total tackles. And, Joey Bosa made a clutch play on the last New England 4th down by batting down a ball that would have led to a first down. Wow...was that a fun ride or what?!!!

With the win, the Bills are 10 - 4, and firmly in the play-off mix. Still three games to play, and a lot can happen. If the Bills win out and New England stumbles on the last game of the year against Miami, the AFC East title is still within reach. Of course that would be amazing, but I'm more focused on staying healthy, and hopefully getting as many guys back for the play-offs (Oliver, Benford, Bernard,...and I'm sure there's a couple others I'm forgetting). Next up, the Bills travel down I-90 to face the Cleveland Browns at 1:00 o'clock. Come on out to Bennett's if you can, and as always....

GO BILLS!!!

Good morning gang…I needed a day to get all of the negative energy out of my body before typing this recap. You all know what happened. The Buffalo Bills, once again, played a horrible game and lost to the Houston Texans, 23 – 19. I could rant about so many things, but I’m going to try and make this brief. While the defense has many issues and a ton of injured guys, and Beane has clearly assembled an average team, the offense is broken! I’m convinced Joe Brady doesn’t have a clue. Didn’t he read my recap written a mere 5 days ago? 😊 With our defense, it’s on the offense to out score other teams, and he keeps running an offense that is hard to watch, and easy to predict. He did the exact opposite of what I mentioned, it’s a race to 40 points, and he continued to run a slow paced, no urgency, very predictable offense, and he clearly has no answers for a good pass rush. I’m not going to list the numerous bad play calling, but I’m convinced, this team is going nowhere with this offense. And, as much as I love Josh, he’s not immune from blame either. I know the coaches coach, and the players play, but come on Josh! You’ve been in the league far too long to sit back as an innocent bystander. Take charge of the huddle, call your own plays more often and can somebody tell him and Brady, you shouldn’t snap the ball with one second left all game!!! Especially in a hostile environment, where the defense is looking at the play c**k dwindle down to zero and they can jump the snap much more easily. For chrissakes guys…speed it up!!!

Of course a lot more guys were injured, so who knows who will be available for the next game. This roller coaster of a season will continue next Sunday at 4:25 for a game at the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Brady and the offense put out one of their many clunkers, it will be another loss. Fingers crossed though, that somehow the Bills can right the ship, but I it’s a pipe dream of winning the division now unless somehow New England starts to lose a lot of games. You want a glass half full? Get in as a wild card, get some guys back from injury and who the hell knows???

Go Bills and Happy Thanksgiving!

Good morning gang...I'm a day late, as I was driving back from the Bills win yesterday, versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 44 - 32. What a fun game to attend, as this game reminded me of the "old Bills" where Josh was slinging it all over the field and FINALLY throwing deep, multiple times. The quick strike air attack was on full display as Josh did something only one other QB in NFL history has done...pass for 3 TD's and run for 3 TD's. That's only happened twice now, and drum roll please...what other QB has done that? Josh! He's now done it twice! Maybe Joe Brady figured it out that you can't keep asking Josh to be a "game manager". Let him go, and will he throw an occasional pick?, sure (he had 2 on Sunday), but who cares? The good that comes with Josh and the offense opening it up, almost always far exceeds the bad. Shout outs to Josh of course, Tyrell Shavers leading the team in receiving, Gabe Davis for doing what he can do best...find seams and make some plays...and how about the kick-off returns of Ray Davis and Mecole Hardman? Not thrilled with Hardman's fumble on the punt, but the two of them gave the Bills outstanding field position and the offense capitalized! I had a lot of time during my drive home yesterday and listened to WGR most of the way. One comment I heard one of the hosts make, I couldn't agree with more...the Bills offense's goal should always be...how do we score 40 points? Let's face it, our defense isn't great this year, and of course injuries are a big reason. But, nobody is going to feel sorry for the Bills, as injuries are part of the NFL. If they can just get some stops, try and limit teams to 27 or under, I believe the only way the Bills are doing anything this year, is to outscore their opponents. The contending teams in the AFC aren't stocked with great defenses so "let's go"...put the pedal to the metal, ride Josh and his off the chart abilities, and go for 40!!

Next up, a short week with a game at Houston Thursday night at 8:15. Houston has a very good defense, but a suspect offense at best. If they can get past the Texans, they'll be 8 - 3, with 10 days off to get some guys back. Huge game, so come on out to Bennett's if you can make it. Not sure if the below link will work, but it's pretty funny if it does.

Good morning gang....well, it's still morning, but how good is it really? It's snowing and I can't glean anything positive from yesterday's debacle. Our Buffalo Bills were "smoked" by a bad Miami Dolphin team, 30 - 13. This ranks up there with Urban Meyer's Jacksonville game or the blowout by the Colts a few years ago, as one of the worst defeats under the Beane/McDermott era. I think we have to look in the mirror and say "this team just isn't that good". Certainly injuries are a story, and of course more guys went out yesterday, but I don't think Brandon Beane has assembled a championship roster. Other than Josh and Cook, I'm pressed to say we have another great player on the team. Add a slow, zero pace, lack of imagination, very predictable offense with receivers that can't separate, and I'm thinking the play-offs may be a stretch. And, if you want to see the last game at High Mark, you better go to Ticketmaster and buy tickets to the last regular season game on Sunday, January 4th, because I'm not sure this team makes the play-offs and I probably have a better shot at hitting a royal flush in Vegas, than the Bills do of winning the division. And, we can't ignore the elephant in the room anymore. This team looks broken and nobody, Josh front and center, looks like they're having fun or playing with the type of emotion you need for elite play. We still have half a season, and of course, "anything is possible", I guess. Maybe they can right the ship and make a run because there really isn't a great team in the AFC. However, if this trend continues, I'd say it's finally time to "clean house" because this front office and staff is wasting a generational, HOF quarterback.

Next up, a HUGE game in Buffalo for a 1:00 o'clock kick-off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If the Bills are still going to have a good season, a win here is key and then I'd say they need to win at least 11 games to get in to the playoffs so not much room for many more losses. Come on out to Bennett's if you can and as always....

Go Bills!!

Good morning gang…it never gets old waking up on a “Victory Monday”! The Buffalo Bills out-matched the Kansas City Chiefs 28 – 21 in an epic game at High Mark. It looked like the stadium was rocking!! I know we’ve seen this story before, with the Bills now beating the Chiefs during the regular season in each of the last five years, and then losing in the play-offs, but this one felt a little better. Why you ask? Well, many Bills faithful, author of this post included, weren’t feeling great about how the Bills have been playing, and not thinking they are capable of a Super Bowl run with this roster, coaching staff, and quite frankly the GM and the way he’s assembled this team. Watching a performance like last night, has me more encouraged about the rest of the season, and I hope the Bills can use this win as a “springboard” for a great 2nd half run. Why was this game different? The Bills harassed, hurried, and hit Mahomes like we’ve never seen them do before. He finished the game for the first time in his career with a completion percentage under 50%, and other than a few frustrating 3rd down, and one 4th and 17 conversion, the Bills held KC to 3 – 13 on third downs. That’s impressive 😊 On defense, it was a great performance all around, but shout outs to Cole Bishop who continues to get better and make athletic plays and hits, Maxwell Hairston who looks like the “real deal” at corner, and I liked what I saw again from Joey Bosa. On offense, Josh had an amazing day with only 3 incompletions, 273 yards passing, and 3 total TD’s. And Dalton Kincaid may have had his best game as a Bill. They finally threw the ball down the field a few times, and it worked. On the negative side, injuries! After losing our best defensive player for the year last week, Ed Oliver, add Michael Hoecht to the list with a season ending, torn ACL ☹ He only played about a game and a half for us, but he looked like a menace on the interior of the line. The NFL is about overcoming injuries, so let’s hope this is it for season ending injuries, and maybe Beane can make an impactful move before the trade deadline tomorrow.

With the win, the Bills are at 6 – 2, still trailing the New England Patriots. Next up, the Bills are on the road at Miami this Sunday for a 1:00 o’clock kick-off and New England plays Tampa Bay…come on Baker Mayfield! Bennett’s should be electric so come on out if you can.

Go Bills!

10/27/2025

Good morning gang…after the bye week, two, and I’d even say four previous games of play, that left us all thinking…”I’m not so sure about this team this year” ☹, our Buffalo Bills easily handled an Andy Dalton led, Carolina Panther team 40 – 9. Maybe Andy Dalton really likes Buffalo, as he did nothing to make us nervous about the outcome, and played like a rookie. He looked lost most of the game. My honest opinion is I don’t know if we really learned anything about the Bills and their weaknesses, as the passing game still looks broken, receivers don’t get open down the field, blitzes work too easily against us, Josh even looks like he’s in a funk, but James Cook might be the best running back in the league. Not sure how you have such a great running game and a way below average passing game? Obvious huge shout out to Cook, as he rushed for the most yards by a bill since OJ Simpson in a Thanksgiving day 1976 game, with 216 yards on only 19 carries. On the defensive side, I liked a lot…Maxwell Hairston made his debut and flashed at times with his speed, Michael Hoecht also debuted with a great game so maybe we have something with him on the D line, Jordan Hanc**k looked fine, and guys like Rousseau and Bosa made plays. But the one shout out I’ll give is to EJ Epenesa…I have a love/hate relationship with him, as so many games I say “is he even playing?”, but then he’ll give you an amazing play like yesterday where he makes an incredible interception and should have gotten the touchdown. Please EJ, can you play like that week in and week out??? One huge negative, and this seems to be par for the course in the last few years…another huge injury. Hard to say for 100% and maybe we’ll know today, but the best defensive player we have, Ed Oliver, was looking like a beast yesterday, but came out of the game with a bicep injury. It didn’t look good, but fingers crossed, he’s not out for the year.

Next up, the annual Kansas City Chief game Sunday at 4:25. The way KC is playing, I’m not that confident, but who knows in today’s NFL, where anything can happen and nothing is predictable. Not sure if you caught this yesterday, but it appears McDermott took over defensive play calling, so maybe he can keep up with Andy Reid and get a very important win…we shall see. Come on out to Bennett’s if you can.

Go Bills!

10/14/2025

Good morning gang…how do I spin this one? Hmmm….I don’t! Our Buffalo Bills lost to a very average, Atlanta Falcon team, 24 – 14. I’m thinking of the Bills players, plays, play calling, GM decisions,…. I could literally list 15 things that went wrong last night, and really, how this team is made up, and they’re all pretty negative. I know we all appreciate Brandon Beane bringing us out of the 17 year darkness, but my patience is running thin with him, and his myriad of misses in the draft and free agency. If there’s a movie that reminds me of the Bills it’s an easy pick…Ground Hog Day! I mean doesn’t it feel like we’re here year after year, saying we need a legit #1 WR, or we need a playmaker on the defensive line, or we need a big stop from the defense to end a game or a game winning drive by the offense to win a game, and we always come up short. Glass half full? The Bills seem to have two game losing streaks every year, they come out of it, make a run to the playoffs and then see comments in previous sentence…we lose in some predictable fashion. Glass half empty? The Bills don’t have a ton of talent outside Josh and Cook, many guys look old, the injury bug is in full force, and do we really trust the coaching staff to take us to the promised land? I don’t have a clue how this season will play out. Maybe getting the suspended guys back will help, and I’d say this is a slim chance, but can we at least hope Maxwell Hairston can get on the field and make a difference? That would be a huge surprise but if so, we can put Tre White on the sideline (I love you Tre but you’re playing days are coming to an end). Josh is once again going to have to will this team to the playoffs, but after last night, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bills win the Division or miss the playoffs. It’s anybody’s guess.

Sorry for the negativity but last night was painful to watch. We now have two weeks off until we play Carolina. Fun fact…the Panters beat the Falcons by 30 points earlier in the year ☹ It’s a 1:00 o’clock kick-off so come on out to Bennett’s if you can. Have a great couple of weeks, and Go Bills???

Casey

10/06/2025

Good morning gang…that’s going to leave a mark! Our Buffalo Bills lost to the New England Patriots 23 – 20, in a game the Bills could have won, but came up short in the end. It reminded me of maybe a play-off Chief loss where we had the ball at the end, but just couldn’t punch it in for a TD when needed ☹ Stefon Diggs played like he did in 2020 and maybe was a reminder when the game is tight, and we need a big play from a receiver, I’m not sure the Bills have “that guy”. Drake Maye played great and while he’s not Josh Allen, he could be a formidable rival in the following years. A game like this causes us all to focus on the negatives…too many guys look old…Tre White, Matt Milano (he may be done with Pec injury again), Tauron Johnson and even Dion Dawkins…we don’t have elite receivers that get open against a very good defense, forcing Josh to scramble for his life to give guys more time to get open, and a defense that just can’t make the crucial stop when needed. It’s only one game and a lot of positives can remain in the future…maybe Maxwell Hairston comes back, the two suspended D lineman make a difference in the 7th game, their best defensive player, Ed Oliver gets back on the field, and Beane can make a trade for a corner, or safety? Who knows, but buckle up and try and enjoy the ride. If I had to give any shout outs in the this game, Allen played very well in spite of being under pressure most of the night, and Dalton Kincaid had his best game yet as a Bill. I’d like to see Joe Brady call better games, and get Kincaid even more involved and figure out how to give Josh a lot more “easy throws” other than the predictable bubble screen he calls all the time.

With the loss, the Bills are still atop the AFC East at 4 – 1. Next up, Monday night at Atlanta. Bennett’s will be open so come on out if you can.

Have a good week, and Go Bills!!!
