45 years ago, mischievous locals mounted a boar’s head on the front sign at Kenny’s Korner (now Hazard Tavern) under cover of night. The prank was inspired by the then-popular TV show The Dukes of Hazzard, where the local tavern was known as the Boar’s Nest. Small town, big fun!

Three cheers for former UNI All-American kicker (and friend of the Hazard Tavern) Matthew Cook, who is making a name for himself with the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. Last week he set a franchise record with four “Deuces” in one game. (In the IFL, a two point Deuce is scored if a kickoff passes through the goal posts.) Who said there’s no such thing as second chances? For anyone who missed it (or simply couldn’t get enough), we’re continuing our Taco Pizza and Meriden Margarita specials for another week. Original town namesake Mr. Hazard may not have eaten tacos, or pizza, yet alone taco pizza, but we’re confident he would approve! 🌮+🍕=😋
