Things have looked a little different around here since the past few months...here's why...
Story time. Grab the popcorn. 🎬🍿
Mid-June, Tulum, Mexico – my friend Karime on the back of a scooter. Supposed to be a chill one-week beach trip.
It was… until it wasn't.
One wrong turn on an unpaved road. Ground came up fast. We both went down hard. I shattered my collarbone into six pieces. Karime broke her arm. Not the souvenirs we were shopping for.
Karime's family showed up on a rescue mission – sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles – got us to León, Guanajuato, straight to the hospital, no hesitation. Our surgeon? Same guy who'd already done both of Karime's dad's knees. That's the universe looking out.
Emergency surgery. Plate and screws into my collarbone. As of June 2026, I firmly believe I qualify as part Mexican, or at least identify as Mexican with this sweet piece of titanium in my shoulder.
"One week in Tulum" turned into two and a half weeks in León – one of the best stretches of summer. Carne asadas, birthdays, World Cup nights, nonstop care. Went down for a vacation. Came back closer with my Mexican family.
July, I rested quietly at home like a responsible adult. Kidding. 4th of July? Dirt bike, ripping around the neighborhood. Did not learn my lesson. SAFETY THIRD!!
Next – Montana. Aaron & Ashley, a rodeo, a Houndmouth show, floating the Madison River, Yellowstone, the Bear Tooth Pass, pig races in Red Lodge. 10/10 recovery method.
Then back to Mexico, because once wasn't enough. Mexico City – history, cocktails, a crash course in unique spirits. A 4-year-old's birthday in Caurio de Guadalupe, Michoacán. Crashed a quinceañera, got invited to a wedding by the uncle of the girl whose party we crashed. I don't quite understand what happens when I'm in Mexico 🤣. Then León again for X-rays and a follow-up.
Five days after landing home, my friend Liz flew up from León for a week – Cedar Point, a shooting range, a helicopter ride, live music, pool parties, a crashed wedding, Put-in-Bay. Zero chill. Recovery done right.
Then full send right back into event season.
Here's the real headline: Premier Pour never missed a beat. Our team ran every event while I was hopping between hospitals, rodeos, and quinceañeras putting myself back together. That's not luck. That's a crew that shows up, every time.
Not 100% healed. Still taking it easy. But I'm grateful, I'm getting there, and happy to be back with all of you. 🥂
