This week we’re introducing Brandi Sacrinty, MA, CCC-SLP!

Brandi has been a speech-language pathologist for 16 years and has spent the past 9 years as part of the SpeakEasy Therapy team. She brings experience across a wide range of communication needs and especially values building relationships with families and caregivers to help support communication beyond the therapy session. 💬❤️

🧸🐛 It looks like play…but there’s a lot of learning happening!

At SpeakEasy Therapy, we know that some of the best learning happens when children are engaged, having fun, and participating in activities they enjoy.

A sensory bin, favorite book, game, or simple craft can create opportunities to build so many communication skills—learning new words, following directions, answering questions, requesting, taking turns, expanding sentences, and practicing speech sounds.

To a child, it may just feel like play. But to an SLP, every activity is an opportunity to build communication! 💬❤️

We’re kicking off our therapist spotlight series with Julie Casey, owner of SpeakEasy Therapy!

Julie has been a speech-language pathologist for 29 years and has spent the last 16 years building SpeakEasy Therapy and serving children and families in our community. She especially loves working with preschoolers and helping little ones grow their communication skills. 💬❤️

It’s been the SNUGGLIEST week in speech! Maybe it’s that we are all tired of winter. Maybe it’s just not enough rest happening. But my vote is for the sweet combination of one-on-one rapport and the richness of books. I use books in every single speech session, and the speechies come to anticipate and love this special time shared. Joint book reading will always be my favorite therapy activity and recommendation to families!

When you have a generous friend who shares mini pumpkins with you “for your speech kids,” and it coincides perfectly with the pumpkin theme you have planned for the week! They LOVED each getting to pick out a mini pumpkin to take home, and it was so fun to talk about the process from seeds to sprouts to harvest to the pumpkin in their hands with a few of our very favorite books (especially “The Little Pumpkin Book” and “Seed, Sprout, Pumpkin, Pie”). We love fall, and we love speech!
