Mrs. Janet Harper Wrights, 81, of Clemmons died peacefully Wednesday, September 18, 2025 at Novant/Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born September 3, 1944 in Forsyth County to Cannon E. Harper, Sr. and Eula R. Harper. Her primary career was in accounting, with other part-time work after retiring. She was a member of Capernaum Church of Christ in Clemmons, and throughout her life was an avid reader, who also loved traveling, crocheting, bluegrass music, the arts, and cats, plus both the beach and the mountains. She was on the Senior board of the LAAC (Lewisville Area Arts Council) and will now become Sr. Board Member Emeritus & In Memoriam, with her service dates from 1991-2025. Her husband, Ronald Eugene Wrights, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Paralea Wrights Boose and husband Randall (with her two grandkitties Phoenix and Anastasia); her sister, Elaine H. Boyer; her brother, Cannon E. Harper, Jr. and wife Shannon. She is also survived by a special "adopted" daughter, Peggy B. Hackett (Jim) of Georgia, and her two caregivers, Vanessa Lassiter and Mary McBride of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many fiercely loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family would like to wish a very special thank you to all the nurses, respiratory therapists, and doctors for the Cardiac ICU unit at Novant/Forsyth Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller (Kinderton) in Advance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, September 23. Beginning in the morning of October 14, 1780, the Battle of Shallow Ford was a turning point for Patriots during the American Revolution, impacting the people of both sides of the Yadkin and along the Great Wagon Road to the early Moravian settlements. This story is a part of the true "Common Ground" on which "We The People" began.

The story, unfolding during a time where there were no cameras, cell phones or even a typewriter, is told through the eyes of artists - field correspondents who would paint, draw or write a journal in the same historic manner - as Artists.

“The Battle of Shallow Ford: An Exhibition of Words and Watercolors” is presented by The Lewisville Area Arts Council with volunteer help from The Battle of Shallow Ford NSDAR and will travel to host venues and towns throughout 2025-2026. It is sponsored through America250 NC Community Grants. It is part of the two year celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary through America 250 North Carolina.

The May - June dates are in our hometown of Lewisville, NC from May 12 - June 30 and will include a multi venue DAY on Saturday, May 10 from 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM at the Lewisville Library (Lucy Lane/Shallowford Rd) AND Historic Nissen House (213 Arrow Leaf Dr)!

Receptions will be held at both locations and include activities for preschool to adults! Events are free.
