Edith May’s Paradise is one of the most eclectically beautiful house concert settings in existence (said confidently and without TOO much fear of hyperbole!). MP is named after owner Georgie Jessup’s Great Aunt Edith and is one of the longest-running house concert spaces in the country. It has hosted artists from all over the world including Dirk Hamilton, Sonia of disappear fear, Robin Bullock (France), Dana Cooper, Robinson Treacher, Craig Bickhardt, Afton Wolf, and Rupert Wates, The Rough & Tumble, as well as local artists such as ilyAIMY, Geraldine, Tony Denikos, Dede Wyland/Big Howdy, The Blue Moon Cowgirls, Akira & Node 18, Ayreheart, Arty Hill, Red Sammy/Adam Trice, June Star/Andrew Grimm, Dirty Soul, No Part of Nothin'/Michelle Murry, Dar Stellabotta, and Georgie Jessup and/or her Cosmic Cowgirls (the hostess herself) on occasion. Edith May’s Paradise is owned by singer/songwriter/activist Georgie Jessup and has slowly coalesced around the remnants of an old family Dewey Beach farmhouse from 1919, old crate wood from her father's family business, Mauler Brother's (1889), and the stock of collectables from Georgie’s family store, originally located in Fells Point (1731 Fleet St.) The exquisite sound system and top notch sound engineers more than satisfies the customers and the musicians alike. EMP has evolved into a safe space for artists and animals, musicians and poets of all walks – and even a number of four-footed rescued friends and is capable of hosting shows for full-bands and provides not only excellent sound and lighting, but also a small house drum kit, Roland keyboard and a house amplifier. Folks bring drinks for themselves are welcome to bring a dish or snack to share, and we have a donation jar to keep things running (suggested donation is $15.00 to $20.00 for most shows). ABOUT GETTING HERE:
It's not hard - plugging the address (7711 Apple Ave. Jessup, MD 20794) into your GPS will get you here, but for a moment, you'll think it didn't. Edith May's Paradise is at the end of Apple Avenue... just PAST the end, actually. When the road ends, continue to follow paved road up to the next house (brown siding with red shutters). Park alongside the paved road (there's plenty of space, and as long as we're mindful of one another, no-one gets parked in, even with a couple of dozen cars) and come on in the front door!
