We want to share some news with our community.

We have made the difficult decision to close Barley House and the Biergarten on September 30th.

The opportunity to operate our restauraunt and biergarten meant a great deal to us as did the support of our customers. We were able to share our meticulously-crafted beers with a new audience while our team of chefs spread their wings in BarleyHaus’ flexible kitchen. We hosted gatherings of all types; big and small, professional and social, business and casual and people who were once strangers turned into regulars.

Before we close, we hope you’ll come by one more time. Come for a last artsy burger, have a pint, spend an evening at the biergarten, and help us say goodbye to BarleyHaus the right way.

Church Street Brewing is not going anywhere. Our main taproom, less than two miles away on Industrial Drive, will remain open.
We will also be resuming lunch service in The Steeple, our daytime taproom. There, senior staff will offer a more focused, curated tasting experience for anyone who wants to sit down with the beer and talk about it. We will also be upgrading our main taproom’s expansive Biergarten. We hope you’ll come check it out.

If Barley House or the Biergarten was part of your routine, we hope you come visit us at the brewery. The beer is still here, the team is still here and we look forward to the opportunity to continue serving you.

We are proud to continue our partnership with Salute, Inc., helping support local active-duty military members, veterans, and their families when they need a hand most.

Support can look different for every family. Sometimes it means help with groceries, utilities, rent, transportation, or simply coming together to celebrate the sense of belonging.

Quick reminder everyone…

First the bad news: the taproom will be closing at 4 PM on Saturday, September 5th for a private event.

BUT…

We’ll be pouring all weekend long at Schaumburg Septemberfest alongside half a dozen other breweries and craft bars and will be open for both lunch and dinner on Labor Day.

Marzen, or Oktoberfest Beer, is a great beer style with a history as rich as the malt used to make it. In renaissance-era Germany, brewing was prohibited between late April and September as higher temperatures led to unpredictable results in the fermentation process. Marzen was some of the last beer brewed and cellared before the cutoff and traditionally brought out in the fall to be enjoyed at harvest festivals. The roasted malt was originally intended to mask any off-flavors imparted by the higher fermentation temperatures, but now lend the beer its rich character.

Itascafest Marzen is our take on this iconic south German beer and we're always excited to start pouring the newest batch every fall.
