Well geez, ☺️☺️☺️, blushing over here. Super happy to be included on a list with so many friends like Two Headed Dog, Capt. Foxheart's Bad News Bar, Donna, Refuge, Julep Bar Houston, Montrose Grocer Bandista Houston, Lee’s | Cocktail Lounge (I hope I didn’t miss anyone). If you want to see what’s going on in cocktails now in houston this is not a bad place to start, but it’s also not even close to a full catalog of the great cocktail bars in this city. My advice (which no one asked for) is to go sit at any of these bars and ask the bartender where they like to go, they are sure to have so many great suggestions that despite not making a list are very worth a visit! Wednesday = one margarita = one free taco. In honor of the buy a drink get a hot dog deal at Rudy's bar in NYC (as memorialized in Steely Dan's Black Cow and by me when I was 23 and drank 7 beers and ate 7 hot dogs before going out for a night in the city). Chicken tacos, Aaron's hand.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS BABIES because we are brining it all the way back. For those of you who have been rolling with Fancy Chef Steak Night you know that Chef Lucas McKinney is really the Steak Night OG and Spirit Animal! Back when he was a young chef at Underbelly, he was there for basically all of the first Steak Nights, helping with the trailer, offering grill pointers, and making sure the vibes were 🔥🔥🔥. Now he's got his own kitchen ( ), but he still knows how to throw down in a parking lot! Here's a little sneak peek at his menu ideas (subject to change). Next Monday join us in the parking lot for steaks, drinks, and excellent vibes! Fun starts at 6 and if you know Steak Night then you know it will sell out so get here early!

It's our very own Nicky's graduation from his training program and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate with him. If you have been coming to Johnny's, you can't help but know and love Nick. Even when he tries to pretend that he's a mean and grumpy guy, we all know that in his big soft heart he is the sweetest of sweeties and he loves you all. We are celebrating him this Sunday in the Johnny's way: a cocktail menu of his favorites (Jersey lightning anyone?), a food item of his choosing (double bacon cheeseburger with mayo and peanut butter on a co**ha), and, as is the tradition, a round of FREE DAIQS for everyone in the bar around 6pm. Come join us!

There’s been a lot of talk about various “loneliness epidmeics” and the decline of in person socializing, but we were still pretty shocked to see this graphic showing exactly how hard everyone has been hit by a dramatic decrease in face to face socializing EXCEPT people who come out for Fancy Chef Steak Night this Monday at Johnny’s with Martin Stayer (aka , the culinary madman behind cult faves like and ). This is going to be a super fun event and perhaps even a cure for your own personal loneliness epidemic! Plus! All steaks sales go directly to thanks to a generous donation from !

I’m excited about ALL the fancy chef steak nights, but I’m really excited about this particular fancy chef steak! Martin ( of ) is one of my favorite people to run into at Southern Smoke Festival because he and the crew always throw down so hard, not just on the food (which everyone does), but on the out and out Shenanigans, and if you know me you know that I LOVE some good Shenanigans. So when he said he would be down to do a Fancy Chef Steak Night next Monday (May 4th) sponsored by and benefitting I knew we would be having a good time. Come join us Monday for steak and shenanigans. $30 gets you Martin’s take on steak night (he has told me “it’s Frito pie inspired”), plus tons of friends and smiling faces. I can’t promise clown costumes, but I can promise that the vibes will be TOP NOTCH, the food will be excellent, and the drinks will be the same great drinks you’ve come to expect from us!
