It was family-owned, we were appreciated, and I truly believed I’d retire there. I even got the company’s logo tattooed on my arm. But then… everything changed. New management came in, and overnight our fun, supportive workplace became a corporate nightmare. Micromanagement, stress, zero appreciation. The team spirit vanished — and so did I. Right before my 60th birthday, they let me go. I’m building a life on my terms — helping others who feel stuck, underappreciated, and just plain burnt out. I help people 50+ create second income streams online so they can stop worrying about retirement and start living again. Just real talk, real results, and a whole lot of heart.

THE BAR WHERE EVERY DOLLAR LEAVES A STORY.
The minute I walked into Pattie's First Avenue Lounge, I knew I had been there before. Years ago,
Jen and Paul, the local Arizona Jägermeister reps, brought me here during my Jägermeister days -
and this is one bar you simply do not forget.
Pattie's opened in Old Town Scottsdale in 1992, but the building dates to 1959. Today, dollar bills
cover nearly every wall, beam and ceiling. The tradition began when Pattie's three sons,
including Chio, put up the first dollars. After Chio passed away from melanoma, the display grew
into something much bigger, with visitors leaving their own marks and some of the money
periodically donated in support of melanoma research and related causes.
Add inexpensive drinks, pool, ping-pong, dancing, a Cactus Cooler house shot and a jukebox that
may occasionally start itself, and you have a true Old Town original. Thank you to Aaron for
taking care of us, Adam from Breakthru Beverage for the photo, and Jen and Paul for introducing
me to this unforgettable place all those years ago.

If you spot our Dive Bar Diva sticker at Pattie's, tag us and tell us the city and bar. And if you
visit, sign a dollar and leave your mark.

CHRISTMAS AT THE BEACH IS HIDING INSIDE ONE OF PHOENIX’S TRUE NEIGHBORHOOD DIVES.
The building dates to 1955, the Starlight Lounge opened here in 1976, and Beth Johnson turned it
into the Swizzle Inn in 1996. Today it is glowing with year-round Christmas lights, sharks, pirates,
stickers, pool, darts and some of the best neighborhood-bar energy around. Danielle made us great
Bloody Marys, and that real-peanut-butter shot tasted exactly like a liquid Reese’s! They are also
known for their $2 brown-bag mystery shot and the bright-blue Shark Fart. We hit the Swizz on 602
Day for a $6.02 prickly pear margarita and met our new friends Jack and Paul. If you spot our
sticker, tag us with the bar and city!

IT'S ALWAYS A PARTY AT THE PLAYA!
The Playa II Bar & Grill has been a Phoenix neighborhood staple since 1984, and more than
40 years later, the tropical lights, pool tables, famous deep-fried tacos and fun-loving
regulars are still going strong. Whitney welcomed us in, our friends Ray and Selena joined
us for a b**r, and we met Charlotte, Travis and George. Boom Boom and I even made the
big screen during our Jell-O shot!
If you spot our Dive Bar Diva sticker, tag us and tell us the city and the bar.

THIS TINY PHOENIX DIVE HAS BEEN POURING DRINKS FOR GENERATIONS!
Royale Lounge may be small, but it is packed with personality - from the parking poles painted like giant
ci******es to the pool table, darts, pinball, jukebox, claw machine and $2 Jell-O shots. Phoenix New
Times has named it Best Dive Bar four times, and now the Royale has a new BusinessRate award
naming it Best Bar in Phoenix's 85006 ZIP code for 2026.
Shayna welcomed us in, our sticker made the door, and we made new friends Sara, Ralph, Teresa
and Sonia. Ralph is also a proud Marine veteran. This is exactly why we love neighborhood dive bars:
you walk in as strangers and leave with new friends.

Have you ever been to Royale Lounge? Tell us your favorite memory - and if you spot a Dive Bar Diva sticker, tag
us with the city and the bar!

SAGE & SAND HAS BEEN ON THIS GLENDALE CORNER SINCE AT LEAST 1963—AND WAIT
UNTIL YOU SEE THE BACKYARD!
Salsa welcomed us in, arm sling and all, before showing us four new Diamond pool tables
and one enormous outdoor adult playground. New owners Jeremy and Dawn are giving
this longtime military and biker hangout a fresh chapter while protecting the history that
makes it special—including the sticker-covered mirror behind the bar.
Outside, there is turf where the sand-volleyball court used to be, palapas, co****le, giant
trash pong, another bar, a huge live-music stage, a piano, murals and even a pole full of
bras and underwear. Then Dawn showed us a 1989 photograph with what looks like an
orb inside the bar. Add bottles and glasses that reportedly tip over by themselves, and
Sage & Sand may have a regular nobody can see.
We met Salsa, Dawn, David, Sarah and Gonzo, made new friends, and left our Dive Bar
Diva sticker behind. This Glendale classic has cold drinks, military pride, music, pool,
deep roots and one kick-ass backyard.

Have you been to Sage & Sand—or do you know the story behind that 1989 orb? Tell us
in the comments! And if you spot a Dive Bar Diva sticker, tag us with the city and the
bar.

A BAIT SHOP, A PACKERS LEGEND AND LIVE BULL RIDING - THE BUFFALO CHIP HAS ONE WILD
HISTORY!
We took the back roads from Punkin Center into Cave Creek and found one of the biggest cowboy bars we
have ever visited. This place started as a little bait shop for travelers headed to Bartlett Lake, later became the
Crystal Palace and the Maverick, and was renamed the Buffalo Chip by Green Bay Packers legend Max
McGee - the man who caught the first touchdown in Super Bowl history!
Larry Wendt later transformed it into the huge Western destination it is today, complete with live bull riding,
bands, dancing, outdoor bars, saddles, stages and cowboy history everywhere you look. Then an arson fire
destroyed the main saloon on Thanksgiving morning in 2015, but the Buffalo Chip came roaring back.
And according to one story Tanner shared, a glass once went flying off the bar all by itself. Would you call that
a ghost - or is there an explanation?
If you spot our Dive Bar Diva sticker, tag us and tell us the bar and city!

Have you been to the Buffalo Chip? Tell us whether you came for the bull riding, the bands, the barbecue or
the Packers - and tag us if you find our sticker

WE HIT 10,000 FOLLOWERS ON FACEBOOK!
Boom Boom and I seriously cannot thank you enough. What started as the two of us popping into dive bars has now
taken us to more than 300 bars, and somehow I still have roughly 100 episodes in the queue waiting to get out to you.
And yes, Arizona is still coming! We are about 20 episodes away from finishing that run, then we have the Central
Coast, and after that, Colorado. There is a LOT more Dive Bar Diva ahead.
Facebook is officially at 10K, Instagram is knocking on 11K, and TikTok is sitting around 5K. Every follow, share,
comment, message, and bar recommendation helps us keep this crazy road trip rolling.
STICKER SPOTTED? If you find a Dive Bar Diva sticker out in the wild, take a picture, tag us, and tell us the city + bar so
we can see where the Diva has landed.
And yes... merch is coming soon. I am working on it as we speak.
Thank you for being part of this with us. Now tell me: what city and what dive bar should Boom Boom and I hit next?

"DROP THE CITY + DIVE BAR IN THE COMMENTS THAT BOOM BOOM AND I NEED TO VISIT NEXT."

"If you spot a Dive Bar Diva sticker, snap a picture, tag us, and include the CITY + BAR so we can share where
the Diva has landed."

BAR BURNED - BUT THE GIANT ORANGE PUMPKIN SURVIVED! 🎃🎃
Punkin Center's story reaches back to 1912. Across the lot, the little old post office still stands, complete with ZIP code 85553
and local ranch brands in the sidewalk. Today, Tonya and her husband use it as their weekend home.
The bar was destroyed by fire in 1992 and rebuilt in 1994 using handmade block walls that survived. Outside, old paint is
revealing “140 Miles of Hell.” Inside, Tonya has noticed flickering TVs and little things turning up someplace else, while other
people have reported a shadowy figure that disappeared. She has never actually seen a ghost, but the stories are definitely
there.
Do you remember the old post office or have a picture of that mural before it was covered? Please send it our way!
