Bonjour, Gang at Cheers! Meg and I got to Paris yesterday, largely unscathed except for the 8 year old sitting in front of Meg who threw up multiple times over the Atlantic. He was super chill about it, so we gave him a Future Cool Guy of America pass. After a power nap, we ate escargot, frog legs, boeuf, and ALL the fromage at Meg’s fave old school Parisian bistro, Allard. On a fast train to Avignon to meet our group of 25 Wine Goddess Adventurers as we speak. Follow along on the happy food and wine trail!

While Diana and Meg are galavanting around Europe, Maya will be behind the tasting table. Here's what they're pouring Saturday, 3-5 PM. Just five buck nets you a taste of:

Ridge Vineyards Chenin Blanc "Heringer," 2025, Clarksburg, California $38

https://www.winegoddess.com/product/ridge-vineyards-chenin-blanc-heringer-2025-clarksburg-california/HK6RQYDDKX5E2HBOMATW3SR2
This is only the second vintage of Ridge's Chenin Blanc, but it tastes like it's been a superstar for years. This one spent a bit of time on the skins--about twelve hours--which adds some weight to counter the bright, lifted acidity. SO good. This was the star of the show at our Ridge event this week, and we're stoked Ridge is now making Chenin, one of the staff's favorite white wine grapes!

Château Campuget 1753 Rosé, 2025, Gard, Rhône Valley, France $24

https://www.winegoddess.com/product/ch-teau-campuget-1753-ros-2025-gard-rh-ne-valley-france-sustainable-vegan/VPPRBCE6IDJEHJDXN72AFT2C
Château de Campuget is so passionate about the Vermentino grape, that rumor has it they absconded to Sardinia (the native home of the grape) to bring back vine cuttings for their own vineyards. While we sell their white Vermentino, in this lovely rosé bottling they've blended a little of the Vermie in with Syrah, creating a delightful blend that is fresh, zippy, and mineral-infused with lots of citrus and grapefruit notes.

Tommasi Valpolicella Classico Superiore "Rafaèl," 2022, Veneto, Italy $18.99

https://www.winegoddess.com/product/tommasi-valpolicella-classico-superiore-rafa-l-2022-veneto-italy-sustainable/KCOUNYOR3NEYNYHFKOPY66E7
Meet your new favorite summertime red! The Tommasi family is a veritable wine dynasty in Italy today, but it all started back in 1902 with the purchase of a small plot of land in Valpolicello Classico. The "Rafaèl" is their flagship bottling, and they describe it as "elegant." We totally concur! It's dry, silky smooth and red-fruit forward with lots of cherries and floral notes. 60% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 15% Molinara

Andrew Murray Syrah "Tous Les Jours," 2023, Santa Ynez Valley, California $21

https://www.winegoddess.com/product/andrew-murray-syrah-tous-les-jours-2023-santa-ynez-valley-california-sustainable/2431
Andrew Murray was on track to receive a diploma in paleontology from the University of California, Berkeley, when a trip to the Rhône Valley derailed his plans. He came back to the U.S. and pursued a degree in viticulture and enology from UC Santa Davis. Shortly thereafter founded his eponymous estate in the Santa Ynez Valley. From all accounts, he's a hell of a nice guy and one talented winemaker. Look for notes of juicy black plum, blackberry, and olive tapenade.

It was SO GREAT having Ridge Assistant winemaker Mike Bairdsmith—and Diana’s first cousin—in the shop last night for a tasting and seminar. Mike is such an engaging and smart presenter—and you don’t need me to tell you the wines were on POINT! Thanks to and for sharing Mike with us for the evening—and for making a CHENIN! So good! And cousin, you crushed it—come back anytime!

We have a brand new by-the-glass list at the shoppe and our Wines of the Week are here to show them off! We’re going full-on summer vibes: A wonderful Vermentino from southern France, a sunny white wine from Greece, a new Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and Aglianico—the dusty red wine grape of Campania that is perfect for barbecues (or a meat and cheese plate at TWG)! Come taste all four with Meg at our $5 Wines of the Week Wine Tasting TODAY from 3-5:00, and then stick around to have a glass (or two!) of your favorites!

Château de Campuget Vermentino "1753," 2025, Rhône Valley, France--Sustainable, Vegan $24

Château de Campuget is so passionate about the Vermentino grape, that rumor has it they absconded to Sardinia (the native home of the grape) to bring back vine cuttings for their own vineyards. You know we love a white wine grape from Italy, and we are simply smitten by how the Frenchies at Campuget have treated this Vermentino. It's dry, elegant, and complex, with notes of mandarin orange, tropical fruits, orange blossom and a lovely, lingering salinity. Pair with seafood!

Seméli Mountain Sun, 2024, Peloponnese, Greece $22

This 80% Moschofilero, 20% Sauvignon Blanc blend from Greece’s Peloponnese shows off the best of both grapes. The “Moscho” offers rich, floral, blossom notes, while the “Sauvy B” balances everything out with bright citrus flavors and racy acidity. The result is pure sunshine in your glass!

Anne Amie Pinot Noir, 2024, Willamette Valley, Oregon—Sustainable $28

We recently sat down with Kim Mcleod, the lovely new owner of the Anne Amie wine brand, a Willamette Valley project that she’s babied into success for over 20 years! We fell hard for these beautiful wines, but even harder for the gorgeous labels that Kim designed for them! You KNOW we love a pretty label around here! In fact, we enjoyed the Anne Amie lineup so much that we brought THREE of the wines in! That’s some G.D. Vajra-level devotion around here! The Pinot Noir is dry and luxe with notes of with notes of mulled plums, raspberry, red cherry, and baking spices.

Ostatu Rioja Crianza, 2021, Rioja Alavesa, Spain—Organic, Natural, Vegan $24

On their great wine tour of Spain, Diana and Meg spent several glorious hours with daughter Mariasun of Ostatu wines, who taught us all about the dynamic Rioja Alavesa region and its many microclimates, terroirs, and histories. Though we've long loved Ostatu's crisp and refreshing rosado (which is reputedly one of the only beverages that Mariasun's elderly grandmother drinks), it was their Rioja Crianza that we knew was the one to bring back for everyone at the Goddess to enjoy! It's dry, structured, and spicy with plums, blackberries, licorice, and toasty baking spices.

Eeeek! When we redid the shelves this week we found two very exciting things: 1) We gained a whole new row of bubbles!; and 2)The shelves are tall enough for all of those tall bottles that never fit anywhere before, meaning that we have full-on Austria AND Germany sections now! As such, our Wines of the Week show off a brand-new sparkler we’ve brought in from the Jura as well as the new vintage of Gobelsburg’s perennially perfect rosé! For reds, we’re repping two more newbies: a Grenache blend from the Vinsobres appellation of the Southern Rhône Valley and a big fat Malbec/Bourdeaux-style blend from Argentina! As always, you can taste the whole lineup with Meg TODAY at our $5 Wines of the Week Wine Tasting from 3-5:00!

Domaine Bourdy Crémant de Jura, NV, Jura, France $29.99

The Bourdy family boasts sixteen generations (!!!) of vignerons in the family. This gorgeous Blanc de Blanc Crémant is a dead ringer for real-deal Champagne: it's bone-dry with pretty apple fruit and impressive minerality. As celebratory as can be! 100% Chardonnay.

Schloss Gobelsburg Rosé "Cistercien," 2025, Austria—Organic $22

As one of the oldest wineries in Austria, Schloss Gobelsburg has some 35 hectares in historical vineyard sites around the castle. Every site has its specialties and particularities with different soil and micro-climatic conditions. We've waxed poetic about several rosés this season, but the Gobelsburg "Cistercien" came to us a little late in the summer, and now that it's here, we can't get enough of it. It might just be THE perfect rosé—bone-dry with ripe red berries, a hint of stone fruit, and a salty, prosciutto-like, savory finish. Made from Zweigelt, St. Laurent, and Pinot Noir.

Domaine Vallot Vinsobres "Le Coriancon," 2020, Rhône Valley, France--Biodynamic, Organic, Natural, Vegan $35.00

Wine Goddess alert! Anaïs Vallot is the face of the fifth-generation of the Vallot property, already well-known for her fresher, dare we say easy-drinking(?!), Côtes du Rhône wine. The estate's wines planted on the hills above the winery reach 450m in elevation, stretching into the coveted Vinsobres appellation. This "Cru" Vinsobres is Vallot's flagship bottling. She uses traditional underground vessels made of concrete to make this wine, providing better, more natural temperature control during fermentation. Even better, Vallot believes that the neutrality of concrete allows the elegance of the fruit to come through, making a dry, balanced, fruit-forward wine that's fresh and ready to enjoy now! 65% Grenache, 32% Syrah, and 3% Mourvèdre

Decero "The Owl & the Dust Devil" Icon Blend, 2019, Mendoza, Argentina—Sustainable, Vegan $29.99

We've long-loved Decor's high-elevation Malbecs from Mendoza, Argentina. This special bottling, made from fruit grown in their most prestigious site, the Remolinos vineyard, is downright magical. And it has a fantastic story. The "Owl and the Dust Devil" is named after two natural phenomena of the estate. The first is a group of Lechuza owls who have made their home in the vineyard, stalking the vineyard posts to protecting the vines from real (and imaginary!) predators. The vineyard is named after the native "remolinos" or whirlwinds, of the region, which regularly churn through the vineyards. The owls don't like the remolinos very much, chasing after them until they vanish (naturally, but don't tell the owls that!). The wine named after this legendary battle is a blend from some of the winery's most prized parcels, and it's as unique as it sounds! Dry, bold, and plush this wine is medium-bodied and dark fruited with lots of luxe oak flavors.

Hello, foodie friends! Long time no see! It’s been ages since I’ve shared a wine and food pairing with you, but at long last I have one! You all know I’m not a big red wine drinker, but when I do drink wine, I enjoy them on the lighter, earthier, more mineral end of the spectrum. Cue Raul Perez’s lovely Ultreia bottling, made from Bierzo’s famed Mencía grape!

Like Pinot Noir and Grenache, Mencía tends to be lighter bodied with fresh, concentrated red fruit flavors, floral notes, and often just a hint of funk. Even better, it’s high acidity and freshness make it an excellent food wine that pairs with just about anything!

It’s damn good with tapas of all stripes, which is the direction I went! Pork tenderloin rubbed with garlic and pimentón served up with some buttery brown rice and garlicky green beans hit all the notes: spice, herbs, and earth! It was delicious, and absolutely worth a try!
