The End of an Era
Dean & I want to inform you of our current status. Our lease is up. Sips on Sherman will have its last day Saturday April 30, 2016. 8 years to the day of our very first day in business.
***STORE HOURS WILL BE BUSINESS AS USUAL UNTIL WE CLOSE FOR THE LAST TIME SATURDAY APRIL 30TH AT 8 P.M.***
There are many details that could go along with this notification. Most importantly, we wanted to thank all of you for allowing us to become part of the Evanston community. Who knew that eight years ago we would be accepted as a solid, city staple with hundreds of supporters. For me, having not worked in retail a day in my life before owning a wine shop, I was determined to take the WineStyles location and turn it into a cozy, fun place to visit, drink & buy delicious wine. Once I conquered that, I realized my tired legs & sore back were far outweighed by the relationships & friendships I have made over the years.
The first four years were awesome. Very stressful, but awesome. Dean & I loved to host events and spend time enjoying wine and conversation with those who chose to include SIPS in their evening and/or weekend plans. What fun can be had while sipping wine!
Our staff changed more than a bit over the years. We have been extremely lucky to work along side some amazing people namely: Rodolfo Nieto, , Shanna Gutierrez, Carrie Cassinski McDowelll, Maura Falls, MatthewDaley, Michael McCrory, Jean Anne Grupe, Elaine Purnell and William Gilmore. Since my major surgery (4th anniversary March 23rd) I have not been a regular fixture at the shop. As business owners will agree, You need to be present for your business to succeed. Being absent was difficult. I attempted to do as much as I could from home, but it was never the same. PLEASE KNOW;this is not a sad milestone. This is the right thing to do. Dean ended up having to juggle his full time job as well as many of my previous responsibilities. Not a winning strategy.
So, our chapter as owners of Sips on Sherman is coming to a close. It is with sincere gratefulness that we thank you all for your support over the years. Dean is racking his brain on how we can do it again someday. We are contemplating a farewell event at the shop; info forthcoming. Meanwhile, Cheers to you. Mind Your Wine. and Drink Responsibly.
Much love & Cheers,
Dean & Maggie Noonan
p.s. Please be sure to pick up your final, remaining Wine Club wines before April 30th.
