Grave Marker Detail – Honoring Our Veterans
On the first Saturday following Memorial Day, members of the American Legion Brown & Lynch Post 9 began the annual effort of replacing torn or missing American flags and repairing or replacing grave markers at the resting places of more than 4,500 veterans at the Northampton Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Easton, PA.
Volunteers gathered at the Shrine to begin this important work, ensuring that every veteran’s grave is properly honored and maintained.
The detail will continue to meet every Saturday, weather permitting, until all 4,500 veteran graves have been visited and cared for.
This ongoing effort reflects Post 9’s commitment to preserving the dignity, respect, and remembrance owed to every veteran who served our nation.

D‐Day: June 6, 1944

D‐Day marks the moment when the Allies launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, striking the beaches of Normandy to begin the liberation of Europe from N**i control.
In the early hours of June 6, 1944, American, British, and Canadian forces landed on Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches, facing fierce resistance along the Atlantic Wall. By day’s end, more than 132,000 troops were ashore, securing a foothold that would turn the tide of World War II.
The courage shown that day—on the beaches, in the air, and behind enemy lines—remains a lasting reminder of the cost of freedom and the strength of nations united against tyranny.
