Two wonderful 1-liter bottles from Lebanon! We love them both but think the white is particularly special.

“Our Lebnani wines were created with the intention to show the world the beauty of Lebanon’s history and culture. We have even incorporated these elements in the design of the bottle. The Lebnani range comes in 1000ml bottles (as opposed to the standard 750ml wine bottle) and is filled with still natural organic wine that is free from additives and that is unfined and unfiltered.”

Benoît Camus, Château Roulant VDF.

This is a beautiful & energetic Gamay that we have loved carrying but won’t be able to carry in the foreseeable future.

Organic farming, spontaneaous fermentation, zero filtration, zero clarification, & zero added sulphites. It’s everything that we want in a wine.

Producer info:
Benoit farms four hectares spread out over eight parcels around the village of Ville-sur-Jarnioux in southern Beaujolais. The vineyards are predominantly limestone, with some clay, granite and marl as well. Benoit lives alongside his vines in a caravan hidden away in one of the parcels he has named Chateau Roulant. 3.5 Ha are planted with old Gamay vines and the rest is Chardonnay.

Benoit’s first harvest was in 2006, though he has been hard at work in other vineyards since his youth. The vines are managed only by him, where he works everything by hand. In the cellar he keeps everything very simple with fermentation and élevage taking place in concrete and cuve and nothing or taken away added at any stage.

Benoit’s goal is to keep his wines as simple as possible in hopes that they may be enjoyed by all.

We have an absolutely lovely new orange wine in stock. Stop in and grab one while you can!

Dar Richi - Helem

First Made: 2022
Grape: Chardonnay (100%)
Farming: Organic
Yield: 50hL / Ha
Alcohol Content: 12.5%
Residual Sugar: 0 g/L
PH Level: 3.4
Region: Bekaa Valley (1,300m).
Best Opened: Best to open at 50 degrees fahrenheit as one would a white wine.
Winemaking Method: Helem is a 10-day Skin Contact Chardonnay that has been fermented and aged in Amphora. The wines go through MLF naturally, they are racked twice before being bottled in late spring.

Dar Richi Hanan was created by Abdullah Richi who moved to Lebanon to escape the atrocities of the Syrian war. Abdullah was interested in winemaking and through observational learning with our winemaker Eddie Chami (Mersel Wines), he developed this red still wine and named it after his wife - Hanan. Abdullah’s dream is to go back to Syria and establish his own winery there.

In 2022, Abdullah created his second bottle, this time a white still wine made of Chardonnay grapes and he called it Helem. Helem means Dream in Arabic and it signifies his dream of making his own wine.

At Mersel Wine, we encourage people to follow their dreams and are all for giving back to the community and leaving a positive impact on others. Way to go Abdullah for creating these sensational wines!
