Rockin Rodeo was opened in Denton, Texas in 2002 by the Graham Brothers Company. After never really connecting with the Denton crowds, the club was sold to Groovy, Inc. Groovy, Inc. having long been known in Denton as the operators of such hugely successful clubs such as The Groovy Mule, Reign Entertainment Complex and RBAR, almost overnight, turned Rockin Rodeo into Denton’s premiere live dance c

lub and live music venue. Hosting such great red dirt names as Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, Cory Morrow, Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Charlie Robison, Stoney Larue, The Josh Abbott Band, The Eli Young Band and the list goes on and on. The Rockin Rodeo has also hosted some great names from Nashville such as Lee Roy Parnell. The Rockin Rodeo also has hosted great rock bands like Bowling for Soup, Reverend Horton Heat, Faktion, Edgewater, the Feds and more. Rockin Rodeo prides itself on being able to transform night to night to offer something to almost everyone. Rockin Rodeo also LOVES to throw your parties. If you knew, you knew!

The North Texas Fair & Rodeo is going on right now, and every year about this time I start thinking about what used to happen AFTER the fair.

Rockin' Rodeo.

Fair weekends were absolute madness.

People would literally leave the fair early because they knew if they waited too long, they'd be standing in that ridiculous line outside Rodeo.

And a lot of nights, the guys who had just played the fair would end up coming over too.

Randy Rogers. Josh Abbott. Kevin Fowler. Aaron Watson. Casey Donahew. Bart Crow. Mike Ryan...and plenty more over the years.

A lot of those guys had played our stage, became friends, and would come hang out when they were in town.

Then you'd look around and the place was absolutely PACKED.

Loud. Sweaty. Probably way too many people. 😂

And we freaking loved it!!

We weren't trying to build some legendary tradition back then. We were just trying to throw one hell of a party.

Turns out, we did both.

Who remembers the Rockin' Rodeo fair after-parties?

If Rockin' Rodeo had an MVP...this guy was it. Period.

BIG B — Byron Navarro

There were plenty of people who got more attention.

Big B never needed it.

He was too busy making sure everybody else was having a great night.

GM. DJ. Problem solver. Promoter. Whatever the hell else needed to be done that day or night.

And quite simply, one of the hardest-working people I've ever known.

But that's not why he's in the Hall of Fame.

It's because he cared!

He cared about the customers.
He cared about the staff.
He cared about me.

And he cared about Rockin' Rodeo like his own name was on the building.

He never needed the spotlight, but whenever we needed somebody to jump into some ridiculous promotion, get on a microphone, make something happen, fix a problem, help somebody out or just do whatever needed to be done...

Big B was there.

Every. Damn. Time!!!

As an owner, you spend your entire career hoping you'll find a few people who care about your business even half as much as you do.

I found one.

And somewhere along the way, he became one of my great friends too — and still is today.

There are a LOT of Rockin' Rodeo stories that don't happen without Big B behind the scenes making them happen.

The guy never asked to be the MVP.

That's probably one of the reasons he was.

Welcome to the Rockin' Rodeo Hall of Fame, Big B.

This one was never a question.

🚨 CONFESSION TIME...

What's one Rockin' Rodeo story you still tell today?

Not the craziest...

The one you still laugh about.

The night you met your spouse.

The concert you'll never forget.

The bartender that knew your drink.

The bouncer that saved your butt.

The friend that somehow ended up on stage.

Or maybe the night you woke up the next morning and thought...
"Yep... probably shouldn't have done that." 😂

🏆 Rockin' Rodeo Hall of Fame
Inductee #1: Bryan "Shaggy" Welch Bryan Welch

Every Hall of Fame needs someone to set the standard.

For Rockin' Rodeo, there wasn't much debate.

It had to be Shaggy!!

If you ever walked through our doors, chances are you remember him.

He was loud.
He was wild.
He said things that probably wouldn't fly in today's world. 😂

Half the time I had no idea what was about to come out of his mouth...
..and honestly, neither did he.

But here's what most people didn't see.

Behind all the crazy was a guy who made the party happen.

He welcomed people like they'd been friends for years.

He made strangers laugh.

He got people out of their shells.

He reminded everyone that, for a few hours, life didn't have to be so serious.

When things got sideways, he handled it.

If somebody wanted to fight...Shaggy usually made sure they didn't.

Or...if they insisted...they usually regretted it pretty quickly. 😂

He worked hard.
He cared about our customers.
He cared about our staff.

And he cared about Rockin' Rodeo like it was his own.

People remember the costumes.
The beard.
The ridiculous stories.
The dance floor.
The laughs.

But what they're really remembering...
..is how he made them feel.

That's why Rockin' Rodeo wasn't just another bar.

It felt like home!

And Shaggy was a huge reason why.

The part that makes me smile the most is this...

He hasn't slowed down.

These days he's absolutely crushing it professionally. The same guy who could light up a room, make people feel welcome, solve problems, and somehow turn complete strangers into friends is still doing exactly that—just in a different arena.

Some people help build a business.

Others help build a culture.

Shaggy built both.

That's why he's the very first member of the Rockin' Rodeo Hall of Fame!!!

Today we remember the heroes who gave everything for this country 🇺🇸

And honestly…
places like Rockin Rodeo only existed because brave men and women fought for the freedom to live, gather, dance, laugh, and make memories together.

That’s something we should never take for granted.

Even though the doors closed years ago…
the Rockin Rodeo family never really did.

Happy Memorial Day from all of us ❤️🤍💙

Before social media… before everybody stared at their phones all night… before online dating…

We had places like Rockin Rodeo.

You actually met people. Danced. Laughed. Got into trouble 😂

Made memories. Made lifelong friends. Sometimes met your husband or wife.

Honestly… some of the best nights of our lives happened in places like this.

Our TEXAS boys just killing it tonight at the ACM - Academy of Country Music awards!! Cody Johnson male artist of the year AND Entertainer of the year and Parker McCollum album of the year!! Fantastic human beings and men of God doing BIG things and never forgetting TEXAS and where they came from!
