Los tamales se originaron en las culturas prehispånicas de Mesoamérica, hace miles de años. El nombre proviene del nåhuatl "tamalli", que significa "envuelto". Eran un alimento båsico para las grandes fiestas, ofrendas a los dioses, eventos sociales y para honrar a los mu***os.

Tamales originated in the pre-Hispanic cultures of Mesoamerica thousands of years ago. The name comes from the Nahuatl word "tamalli," meaning "wrapped." They were a staple food for large celebrations, offerings to the gods, social events, and to honor the dead.
