It’s Labor Day Weekend stock up & check out what’s fresh for your holiday!

From the top 👩🏻‍🏫…

🏺Kefallions “Verdea” - a mix of numerous varieties of Greek white grapes that are fermented separately and then blended. Notes of peach blossom, citrus peel, green walnut, and white peach. LOVELY.

🇦🇺Moorooduc Estate - a bright pop of acid & a soft touch of oak gives this Chardonnay a harmonious balance of fresh & rich.

🍓Martha Stoumen “Post Flirtation” - one of the most prominent natural winemakers in the United States & a dear staff favorite: these Martha Stoumen Wines are back! This rosé is fruit forward & crushable!

🍕Cascina Féipu dei Massaretti - a light bodied red with characteristic structure & tannin of Italian wine. This bottling takes kindly to a chill.
Pro-tip: make it your current pizza wine

🫚Cavalier Los Andes “Cuvée Nature” - a malbec blend with typical spice notes but a fresh & earthy finish. A little lighter than what you typically expect from the bold varietal.

🍁Domaine d’Homs “Vindici Maux” - an excellent fall red that is full of rich, dark fruit & balanced earthy tannin.

Here are this week’s new arrivals!
Let’s check the board…👩🏻‍🏫

🐟Catch & Release “Swim Good” - We love a sparkling Albariño. Fresh & clean sparkling summer wine with plenty of expected citrus notes.

🫧Les Hautes Terres “Là Haut” - rich flavors of juicy, ripe berries. great flavor concentration, but still light & fresh on the palate.

🍊Catch & Release “Block Party” - Believe it or not, this bottling is comprised of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer. Red fruit flavor coupled with the textural richness of a traditional orange. Very juicy!

🔥Little Trouble Wine Co. “A Place to Feel Good” - A co-fermentation of over 20 grape varieties. Our team is calling it a rosé. Bright, pleasant fruit & altogether delicious!

🧊Little Trouble Wine Co. “Watcha Doing Tonight” - delicately colored Pinot Noir with fresh & bright acidity. This wine takes nicely to a chill.

Here’s what the Ampelos team is currently reading with Becca starting us off…

Book: Ring Shout

Do you recommend it?: VERY GOOD & HELL YES! It’s about the K*K actually being demon spirits & the three black women who hunt them. (We’ll drink to that HERE,HERE!🥂)

Pairing: “This book pairs with a deep, ruby red.”

Other Jess

Book: One Thousand Vines

Do you recommend it?: I recommend it to all who want a non-conformative perspective on wine.

Pairing: Any wine that doesn’t play by the rules!

Jess

Book: The Starless Sea

Do you recommend it?: HIGHLY. There are multiple stories within the story happening simultaneously. Beautifully written, if a little chaotic. Put this on a late fall TBR pile.

Pairing: There are a lot of references to honey bees so I’d recommend a contemplative still white wine that evolves in a glass like Dido or a Lauer Riesling.

Book: Red Rising

Do you recommend it?: Ya, if you have lots of time.

Pairing: An electric, chillable red wine.

We are pleased to report that our general manager & guard cat, CC, is still on the mend, but recovering nicely! Ginger Berry has her styled out in an entire boutique kitty hotel. Could this mean, CC is no longer for the streets of Bishop Arts? Well. She just watched her first episode of Frasier so stay tuned 😉

🧂Pazo Vedoira “Camelia” - a more nuanced version of your classic Albariño. This bottling maintains salinity & acid, but has a great floral subtlety.

🛐Famille Isabel Ferrando “Stella Ducit” - the newest offering from the classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer! This is a 100% dry clairette with all rare varietals. Low acidity, but creamy & silky in texture.

🎧Wonderwerks “Club Music” - If you’ve had Big Orange by this team, this is that! ☝️ with a sparkling rosé sprinkled in! Juicy, wild & refreshing! :cue the mmchck mmchck mmchck:

🧃Lubanzi “Anomalous” - love it or hate it 100% pinotage , but made for a chill. A different interpretation of the polarizing variety that is frooty, light, and great for this awful heat!

🍒Sebastien Besson - a super duper fresh style of our house staple red grape! Juicy, low tannin, and enough complexity to remind you it’s serious, but still fun!

Our mystery pours will continue this evening through the weekend. Just ask what we’re slinging!

We’ve got some fresh new options in the shop for you this weekend! Check them out…

🏆Domaine Gérard & Hubert Thirot - Ampelos’ first shoppe Sancerre! Beautiful & well-balanced. The acidity doesn’t rip like more recent vintages, but the expression is bright & fresh!

🪷Prunus - a complex white grape blend with a floral candy quality on the nose. The palate carries everything from intense fruit tart flavors to flaky crust to cream to berries to peach! We promise this wine is dry the candy & fruit descriptions ;)

🔀Mas Magnan “Come Prima” - southern French Sangiovese say WHAT?! This wine has the freshness of a deep rose, but finishes like a red so…we’re calling it a red

🧃Domaine Gérard & Hubert Thirot - Fresh & juicy with an earthen wild berry finish

🍷Louis Chenu - A pretty Burgundy without oak influence. This wine drinks fresh & youthful, but maintains complexity that keeps it serious.
