WhirlyBall has been bringing people together in Chicagoland and beyond since 1993 - one wonderfully weird, ridiculously competitive, 4-mph game at a time.

This week, we're celebrating Founder’s Day by turning back the clock with throwback pricing inspired by the year it all began. And this weekend is your last chance to join the celebration.

A message from Adam Elias, CEO of WhirlyBall:

"Beginning this year, August 18 will mean something new at WhirlyBall.

Today is our first Founder’s Day.

My dad Sam Elias brought WhirlyBall to Chicagoland in 1993 with an idea that was certainly unconventional. More than three decades later, that idea is still bringing people together.

When we lost him in 2020, I took on the responsibility of stewarding what he built and helping carry it into its next chapter. That responsibility has meant a great deal to me.

Founder’s Day is our way of making sure we never lose sight of where we came from.

It’s a day to celebrate my dad and his founding of WhirlyBall, but also the entrepreneurial spirit behind anyone willing to take the risk of starting something new. Building a company takes belief, resilience and a willingness to keep going when there are no guarantees.

It’s also a day to recognize the thousands of team members, guests, partners, friends and families who have helped make WhirlyBall part of their own story over the years.

And just as importantly, it’s a reminder that honoring a legacy isn’t only about looking backward. It’s about continuing to build something worthy of it.

So from this year forward, every August 18 we’ll take a moment to remember where WhirlyBall started, appreciate the people who helped get us here, celebrate the courage it takes to build something from nothing, and look ahead to what comes next.

It all started with Sam Elias. 🏑

In 1993, Sam brought WhirlyBall to the Chicagoland area and introduced generations of players to something completely different: bumper cars, lacrosse-style scoops, a wiffle ball and a game that somehow turns just about everyone into a fiercely competitive 4 mph athlete.

Today, on Sam’s birthday, August 18, we celebrate Founder’s Day—honoring the man who started it all and more than three decades of WhirlyBall memories that followed.

And what better way to celebrate 1993 than by throwing our prices back to 1993, too?

All week long, August 17–23, we’re celebrating with throwback pricing on WhirlyBall, Laser Tag, Bowling, pizzas, burgers and b**r.
