So, with the global soccer world gearing up for the F*** W**** C**, also known as the Quadrennial International Soccer Tournament for Qualified National Teams Hosted By A Global Sporting Body That Doesn't Let You Mention Them By Name, we are hosting watch parties for the US Men's National Team. Their first game starts this Friday at 9pm, and we'll be staying open late for that and the third group match, which starts at 10pm on Thursday June 25.

So come catch the matches, some beers, and cheer on the US team. This Friday for the first match, we'll put some pizzas out for everyone, and for matches 2 and 3, we'll have some special accompanying snack events to go along with the games. Stay tuned for individual event posts for each of those matches.

Really amazing things the Friends of the Washington-Centerville Public Library are doing here in Centerville!

Today, we presented a check for $60,000 to the Washington-Centerville Public Library for the expansion of Creativity Commons!

Over the past 1+ years, we have held Out of the Pocket, Ghost Walk and A Tasting with Friends fundraisers to purchase new equipment for the maker space as it moves to Centerville Library later this summer.

ON THIS DATE 82 years ago…

As a part of Operation Overlord, better known as the Normandy Landing on D Day, the largest seaborn invasion in history occurred. However, before that happened, various airborne operations occurred before and during the invasion. Due to the large number of Allied aircraft involved, and the need for identification of those aircraft, a marking scheme was proposed for wings and fuselage sections of the aircraft, top and bottom. What came next were the famed white and black invasion strip pattern being painted on June 4th on all associated aircraft except the heavy bombers, except for one special exception (that we’ll tell the story of later on).

Eventually as 1944 progressed and the Allies gained air superiority over occupied France, the stripes were ordered removed from the wing tops of aircraft stationed at forward airbases to avoid observation.

So, as we remember the bravery and sacrifice of the Normandy invasion force on the anniversary of that Day of Days, you now know the story of the famous stripes that adorned the Allied aircraft.

Not beer related, but the more you know!

SUNDAY 6.7 UPDATE //

This Sunday June 7, we will be closing at 430pm for a private event for the rest of the evening. If you are planning on coming by Sunday, we'll be open from 1-430pm. We appreciate your understanding, and we'll resume our normal hours on Wednesday June 10th.

As a heads up, the World Cup kicks off on Thursday, so stay tuned for gamewatch information for the US games and other matchups.

Major thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday to support the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton.

With your support, we poured exactly 100 full pours on Saturday, good for $100, and will be matching that donation as well. It's a small amount, but every little bit helps.

That money will go to the continued support of our special needs community. Also, a big thanks to our bartender Sam for setting us up to help. We'll be looking to do this again in the future, and in the meantime, if any of YOU (our patrons and followers) have a non-profit community cause (foundation, PWAP, etc) that is close to you, get a hold of us, we'd be interested in hosting events that support greater causes. (Caveat, so long as they are not solely focused on youth initiatives, being a beer producer and all).

On Saturday May 30, we’ll be hosting a fundraiser for the Greater Dayton Special Olympics, contributing a portion of sales to the cause.

HOW IT WORKS:
$1 from every full pour of beer will be donated to the cause, and we’ll have an onsite fundraiser as well. We encourage anyone who is interested in providing additional support to do so directly with Special Olympics, and we’ll have information on hand on how to do so. The money goes to supporting those with special needs in the local area and providing an outlet for physical participation, adaptive support and friendly competition.

So come join in the fun and support a great cause all day. We’ll have the Champions League Final at noon and a full day of sports on the TVs, and along with a cookout in the early part of the day.

SUMMER SATURDAY //

Today, we open at 1130am for the European Champions League Final soccer match between Arsenal and PSG.

We'll have some brats and snacks available as well as the full beverage selection.

Also, all day, we are hosting a special fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton, where we will donate $1 per every full beer to their cause as today kicks off their Battle of the Businesses week. Every beer from today's cause will count towards this and we are happy to support their mission of giving everyone with disability opportunities for healthy lifestyles, friendly competition, and community support. Weather looks great, so come out and have some fun and help us support a great cause.

Cheers, and come on you Gunners! (PSG fans are welcome too, of course, it's all love).

NEW BREW THURSDAY //

Today, we release an experiment of fundamental testing. Please meet ‘A Fundamental Experiment’, a pre-prohibition style pale lager, 5.3%.

Neat corn notes with a pilsen base, AFE has a moderate hop tone that is slightly earthy, floral, and bitter. Think American lager with pale ale hops and slight chill haze.

This style was popular prior to the temperance legislations and around the time as our first flying adventures and wind tunnel tests in the early 19-aughts. This is an experimental batch and will likely evolve into something more permanent, but as a first attempt, fits nicely with the warming weather and outdoor festivities upcoming for America 250.

Come grab a pint or two, and brings friends.
