Grilled salmon on a bed of spinach and blistered sweet chiles, finished with a bright green salsa.

On our fall menu it comes with spaghetti squash, arroz verde, salsa falsa and charred corn relish. A Sonoran-leaning plate for a long lunch on the patio or dinner in the Grill Room.

Thanksgiving at Tonto is a plated prix fixe afternoon on Thursday, November 26, with seating from 12 to 4 pm.

Seasonal appetizers, then your choice of turkey breast and braised thigh, Parmesan-crusted halibut or mesquite-grilled filet, finished with an autumn dessert duo. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are available.

$85 per guest, $30 for children 5 to 12, plus tax. Reservations are required: call (480) 488-0698, option 3.

Hosting at home instead? Our Thanksgiving To-Go feast serves 6 for $275. Order by Sunday, November 22 at 5 pm for pick-up on Thanksgiving Day between 1 and 5 pm.

Every dessert at Tonto is made in house by our pastry chef. This fall: Lemon Lime Prickly Pear Meringue Tart, Apple Cheesecake with apple c***r jelly, Honey Cake with vanilla gelato and a honey tuile, and Vanilla Creme Brulee with cherry compote and a mille feuille cookie.

Fresh corn tortilla chips, house-made guacamole and grilled corn and tomato salsa, set out on the cocktail patio.

Happy hour runs 2:30 to 5:30 pm daily (excluding holidays) in the bar and on the cocktail patio, with bites like buttermilk fried calamari and tortilla-crusted crab cakes alongside Arizona drafts and our Tontorita.

Saguaros just past the table and a free afternoon ahead. Pull up a chair.

Before there was a Tonto, there was a natural spring, then a cattle ranch stopover between Camp McDowell and Fort Whipple, then a 1940s dude ranch.

In 1994, John Malcolm and Eric Flatt turned a golf course snack shack at Rancho Mañana into Tonto Bar & Grill. More than three decades later, it is still a Cave Creek original.

Walk through the adobe gate and see it for yourself. Open daily, 11 am to 8 pm.

Fall is officially on the menu. 🍂

This week: baby romaine with honey habanero pork belly and blue cheese, an apple bourbon brined pork chop over chipotle cotija polenta, and a pecan tart you'll want to save room for. Pour a glass of King Estate Pinot Noir to go with it.
