We’re proud to share that Sumiao Chen received the “Outstanding Restaurateur” award, while Sumiao Hunan Kitchen was recognized with the “Outstanding Restaurant” award at this year’s Restaurant Industry Golden Awards during the 8th Global Chinese Cuisine Expo in Chicago.

The awards recognize restaurateurs and restaurants helping advance Chinese culinary culture and shaping the future of Chinese cuisine across North America. To be acknowledged among so many respected peers in the industry is truly meaningful to our team.

At Sumiao Hunan Kitchen, community has always been at the heart of what we do. We’re honored to support the Alzheimer’s Association and this year’s Hope on the Harbor Gala through their annual auction benefiting families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. 💜

Thank you to the Alzheimer’s Association for the important work they do every day to provide care, support, advocacy, and research for those impacted by this disease. We’re grateful to play even a small role in helping support that mission.

At Sumiao Hunan Kitchen, art extends far beyond the plate.

Chef Zhu brings a creative perspective shaped by traditional Chinese ink painting, hand-designing the restaurant’s chalkboard displays and infusing that same attention to balance, color, and detail into every dish that leaves the kitchen. From hand-drawn menu boards to carefully composed plates, artistry is woven into the experience in ways both big and small.

We’re honored that this dedication to craft helped earn Sumiao a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand in the inaugural 2025 Boston Guide.
