After a life long dream of bringing only more to Boerne and the Texas Hill Country, we decided to capture the night life our our small quaint town. Our sister lot next door is Little Gretel Restaurant, where Executive Chef Denise Mazal and daughter, Veronica Mazal Brown opened their doors in 2009, serving authentic Czech and traditional German food. Salvador DOBBS offers a small menu catered by Little Gretel during their business hours. Salvador DOBBS was former Toyshoppe & Knitting store, Ewe & Eye. After almost 30 years of business we shut the doors and remodeled the building to become Boerne's Night Life Spot! Join us for a specialty Cocktail and try the Juliana from the Bronx.

🤖 WAIT… DID THE CZECHS WARN US 100+ YEARS AGO?! 🇨🇿🤖

If you’ve ever wondered why there’s a R.U.R. statue sitting on the corner property here at Salvador Dobbs, well… there’s a pretty wild story behind it!

Back in 1920, Czech writer Karel Čapek wrote a science-fiction play called R.U.R. -Rossum’s Universal Robots. And this little Czech play would go on to introduce the word “robot” to the world! 🇨🇿🤖

The really crazy part? The play is about artificial workers being created to serve humanity… until those robots become self-aware, revolt, attack the humans, and ultimately take over the world. 😳

Yep. OVER 100 YEARS AGO.

And now fast-forward to 2026… 👀

This video showing a robot apparently attacking a customer inside a shop. Now, we don’t know if that video is real, AI-generated, or somewhere in between, but after reading about R.U.R., I’m starting to think maybe the Čapek brothers knew something we didn’t! 😂

So the next time you’re walking past our R.U.R. statue, take a second look.

Because apparently the Czechs tried to warn us:

THE ROBOTS ARE COMING. 🤖😂

And if AI really IS planning to take over the world someday… well, at least come have a cocktail at Dobbs before it happens. 🍸
