Just so everyone now knows. The Redneck Fishing Tournament WILL NOT be held at the Boat Tavern this year. The Boat Tavern is closed due to the owner not keeping his financial obligations to his business. I , Sherie Wainscott administrator of this page am setting the record straight. We have not closed because of being sued by a former employee, we are not closed because of structural damage, we are not closed because of a bad water sample, we are not closed because of FEMA and of all of the crazy rumors flying around. Betty DeFord has tried everything humanly possible to try to get this bar reopened to save her employees jobs, her job and to have a fun place to go too. Unfortunately you can not fix stupid and that is exactly what everyone involved with has been dealing with here. We are hoping and praying that we will have a new owner here pretty quick and that the Boat will be opened back up and running in no time. To all of our patrons and to all of our friends who have reached out to us since the beginning of this ordeal, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your love and support has been phenomenal. Bittersweet today!! The Boat is closed until further notice!! We moved stuff out today to prepare for floodwaters!! Keep your fingers crossed that Old Man River doesn't get to high!! Also say a prayer for our neighbors here in Bath and Patterson Bay, Matthews Bay and Wimpyville!! Stay safe and dry!! If any of our friends , family and patrons want to see us bartenders, we will be at the Trading Post in Oakford!! White Lightening is playing there tomorrow night!! Come celebrate with us!! Thank you everyone for another FABULOUS weekend here at the Boat! Special thanks and big hugs go out to Music Vision for rocking the house Friday night! Another set of big hugs and thanks go out to Redneck Karaoke with Jeff for letting us sing our hearts out!! The biggest thanks goes out to everyone who came down and partied, sang and danced! You people are awesome! Oh, I almost forgot to thank this one mushroom for all of the laughs!! Have a great week! Same time , same place next weekend?
