First Friday’s Featured Artist!
Havana artist Rick Noble will be the featured artist for First Friday, October 4th at Lu Lu’s Craft Beverage Co. in Havana.
Noble’s acrylic abstract paintings have been considered a form of sgraffits, a technique that involves scratching away a surface layer to reveal a different color or pattern beneath. He also creates sculptures from found objects such as discarded wasp or hornet nests, driftwood and bone. Rick is also known for creating vessels from animal hair, a process he invented several years back.
Noble’s work has been in many shows and galleries in Illinois as well as in New York. His work can be found in private collections throughout the United States and internationally in places such as the Republic of Tonga in the South Pacific.
Rick hopes that through his work he can open the eyes of the viewer so that they may see the details of nature that they may otherwise overlook.
Noble’s work will be on display from 4pm-8pm Friday night along with music by George Caton here at Lu Lu’s Craft Beverage Co.
Mr. Noble is the president of the Mason County Arts Counsil and sits on the River Side Club (RRR) Committee as well as the newly formed Havana Museum and Cultural Center board.
First Friday’s Featured Artist are in part funded through a grant by the Endowment for the Arts, The Illinois Arts Counsil, Two Rivers Arts Counsil and the Mason County Arts Counsil
