Bartender education is part of the SpeedRailz experience.

Ahead of our Houston qualifier at Atlas Heights, Weber Ranch Vodka Master Distiller Antonio Rodriguez stopped by to talk about process and hand out tastings.

Beyond the competition, we’re creating opportunities for working bartenders to connect directly with the people, products, and expertise shaping our industry.

That’s what the scrimmage day was for. Get the nerves out, learn the rules, figure out where you’re losing time, and meet some of the people you’ll be competing against before the clock actually counts.

Now it’s time for the real thing.

OCTOBER 7 • Atlas Heights at 6 PM

$7 industry happy hour cocktails, food, DJ, free parking, and a room full of Houston bartenders trying to earn one of 8 spots in the Last Man Standing finals.

Houston bartenders — we’re a few days out.

If you’re already signed up, use the weekend volume to go through the motions and practice working clean, not just fast.

Your qualifier time includes penalties, and one mistake can be the difference between making the Top 8 and watching the next round from the crowd.

Study the score sheet. Know what the refs are looking for. Know your sequence. Practice your station setup.

If Alyssa O'Brien makes you something you love, there’s a good chance she’s saving the recipe under your name.

You’ll find her at Patterson Park , the multi-level “treehouse” patio bar tucked along the White Oak Bayou Trail in the Heights.

Now she’s bringing that people-first style into Speed Railz to see how it holds up when creativity gets replaced by a clock.

Fun fact: Rey. ✌🏼 is also a freelance photographer who gets to work a lot of business and networking events around Houston, so he definitely understands the value of creating more spaces for people in hospitality to connect and collaborate.

You’ll find him behind the bar at Bumpy Pickle which is basically a playground for social clubs — pickleball, volleyball, events, and a full food and beverage program.

Now he’s throwing his hat in the ring for Speed Railz Last Man Standing, hoping to grab one of those Top 8 spots and advance to finals.

Think you’re fast? Come find out.

We have around 20+ Houston bartenders signed up for Last Man Standing, with room for roughly 15–20 more before we close registration.

Your first opportunity to get reps is September 23 at Atlas Heights. We’ll walk through the rules, let you learn the competition wells, get some scrimmage runs in, and Atlas will have happy hour, food and drinks available.

Then it gets real:

Oct. 7 — Qualifier: Top 8 advance
Nov. 4 — Sudden-death championship
Winner takes $1,000
