We won 1st place in two categories in this years Best Of WNC by Mountain Xpress ✨

DayTrip has been fortunate enough to be graced by so many wonderful people in this past year and you all make me blushhhh.
I attribute that success to our wonderful staff. Without the creative and thoughtful talent behind the bar and Heather behind the bookings we would be nothing. We are humbled and hope to keep making you all proud with our ever evolving community space.
Thank you to everyone who voted. Being in a town with so many carefully curated spaces we feel lucky to be alongside them.✨✨✨

This framed picture of Dolly was on of the few things salvaged from DayTrip after the hurricane.

We had her on the top shelf in the bar as a symbol of overcoming challenges, nay sayers and ignorance. Dolly didn't let anyone stop her from shining and we felt a strong connection to her while curating our 70's oasis by the river.

After Helene we went into what was left of the bar to try and recover anything. When we stepped inside immediately we saw her. While covered in dried mud and a little warped from water Dolly sat unbothered still on her shelf.
This is probably cliché, but as a gay boy growing up in the south, she was always a constant for me. Her music brought me joy and her parks brought me laughter.

May your rhinestones stay glistening and your hair stay tall. Forever.
We love you Dolly 🩷
