Meet the artists:
MEROL burst onto the pop music scene in 2018 with the hit single Lekker Met De Meiden. Since then, she has been unstoppable. With her bold, headstrong, and unapologetically direct Dutch-language electropop, she has an uncanny ability to capture the spirit of the times. She sings about s*x, feminism, and everything in between, wrapped in irresistibly catchy synth-pop. Her cheeky, razor-sharp lyrics have sparked conversations across both the Netherlands and Belgium.
Since her breakthrough, she has packed out major concert venues and performed at festivals including Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret, and Rock Werchter. She has collaborated with artists such as Elmer, Jungle By Night, and Lionstorm. Music magazine OOR even dubbed her “the Lady Gaga of the Low Countries.”
Now, in 2026, MEROL is back—more fiery, more vulnerable, and rougher around the edges than ever before. Armed with her new album, Leve de Feeks, she embarks on a bold new musical direction. Together with Flemish producer Jeroen De Pessemier (known for his work with The Subs and Oscar and the Wolf), she has created a wild blend of electropunk infused with rock and techno influences, drawing inspiration from artists such as Peaches, Wet Leg, Amyl and the Sniffers, and Björk. On her new album, she reclaims the Dutch word feeks (“shrew”), breathing new life into the term while freeing herself from the shame she has felt about her body, her s*xuality, and her desire to have children.
Following her electrifying performance at Noorderslag earlier this year, Dutch music platform 3voor12 wrote that she had surpassed herself. “It’s obvious she’s having even more fun with this than with the pop shows we knew her for. And to be fair, this raw version of MEROL is both surprising and remarkably cohesive in all its chaotic energy.”
