A monument to celebrate and honor the heroes of the LGBTQIA+ community, gifted to the city of Amsterdam during WorldPride 2026.

The Homomonument Foundation, IHLIA LGBTI Heritage, and the Gay Amsterdam Association Foundation (GALA) have joined forces to fulfill a long-cherished dream: the creation of a new, permanent monument in the heart of Amsterdam—the Walk of Pride.
During WorldPride 2026, this extraordinary route will be unveiled to honor individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community. In collaboration with a selection committee of seventeen LGBTQIA+ organizations—who believe in the power of visibility, recognition, and shared history—a unique selection of names and stories of national and international LGBTQIA+ heroes has been curated.
The Walk of Pride Amsterdam will be a monumental route consisting of 52 bronze tiles, connecting the Dam Square to the Homomonument at Westermarkt. These two symbolic locations in the city represent the Dam, where homosexual men were condemned and executed in the 18th century, and the Westermarkt, where the Homomonument has celebrated diversity and love since 1987.
