Friday, June 5, I’ll be back at the legendary jazz club Casablanca on the Zeedijk during the 13th edition of the Red Light Jazz Festival in Amsterdam.
As a proud ambassador of Red Light Jazz, I’m very happy to return to this iconic venue. Casablanca has been part of my musical journey for many years, and I also performed there during the very first edition of the festival in 2014.
This special concert is also a celebration of Miles Davis’ 100th birthday. I’ve often been called “Lady Miles Davis” because of my energetic and adventurous approach to jazz, mixing jazz, funk, hip hop, dance grooves and improvisation into my own sound.

Today is the birthday of one of my musical heroes: Hans Dulfer.
Happy Birthday Hans!

Thank you Hans, for giving me gigs in the beginning of my career, when almost nobody else would. Your support meant a lot then — and still does.

Today we celebrate the great trumpeter Miles Davis 100th birthday! Several of my CD's include tributes to him and often people recognize the "Miles" in my playing. Saskia and Warren traveling from Bradley Airport, Hartford, CT to Amsterdam via Dublin when we unexpectedly met drummer Alvin Carter and his wife, vocalist Chereese — and shortly after, pianist Alex Nakimoshi. So Cool to meet musicians at the airport! Our Dublin flight was delayed, but had an Irish breakfast before continuing to Amsterdam.

🎶 Honoring Ella Fitzgerald in Yonkers, NY
Yesterday (May 5, 2026), Warren and I visited the beautiful statue of Ella Fitzgerald in Yonkers. We were brought there by great living legend from Yonkers, trumpeter Charles Tolliver!
Known as “The First Lady of Jazz,” Ella Fitzgerald (1917–1996) remains one of the most influential vocalists of all time. Her pure tone, impeccable phrasing, and groundbreaking s**t singing set a standard that still defines jazz today. From her early success at the Apollo Theater to a legendary international career, she inspired generations with her artistry, resilience, and joy.
Standing beside her statue is a powerful reminder of the roots of this music and the legacy we are proud to be part of.
🙏 The sculpture was created by Vinnie Bagwell and commissioned by the City of Yonkers.
