Roscommon County Council invites members of the public to have their say on and inform the publication of the first Biodiversity Action Plan for the County. 📢

The public consultation process will be in two stages with the first-round consultation open until the 29th August 2026 focusing on the Biodiversity Action Plan Discussion Paper.

In person events will be taking place this week:

✔️ Roscommon County Council Athlone/Monksland MD office Monday 17th August 2-4pm
✔️ Roscommon Library Wednesday 19th August 2-4pm
✔️ Boyle Area Office Friday 21st August 2-4pm

Copies of the discussion paper are available online on Roscommon County Council public consultation portal or from Biodiversity Officer by e-mailing [email protected].

In safe hands!
A nice memory from August 11th 1999 the day of the last big solar eclipse seen in Ireland. Grandad Jamesie with his granddaughter Ann-Marie Murray and grandson Séamus Dwyer. I remember at that time everything went grey and it felt a bit cold. This evening the eclipse should be visible starting around 6 pm.

Congratulations to Mayo All Ireland Football Champions 2026. What a fantastic win👏
An opportunity to share again this great photograph of our beautiful Auntie Sue( then aged 13), taken in 1944 when Roscommon were All Ireland champions. Now a hale and hearty 95, she watched the match yesterday at her home in Castlebar and shared in the jubilation felt by us all to see Mayo win the All Ireland after a seventy five year wait. In 1943 and 44 her brothers Jamesie and Phelim were on the Roscommon team that won back to back All Ireland titles. As Jamesie was captain both years, the Sam Maguire cup became a ‘lodger’ in the Murray home in Knockcroghery. Tonight Sue is closer to the Sam Maguire than she has been for a long, long time! ❤️

St Dominic's U15 féile camogie team are holding a fundraising car wash (at St Dominic's pitch) & cake sale (in Knockcroghery community center ) on this *Sat 6th June* for their upcoming Féile trip, which takes place later this month.

*Baked Donations will be gratefully accepted at the community center on Friday 7-8pm & on Sat morning*
