ST Flannans Fishing Club

St Flannans Fishing Club was Founded in 1987 St. Flannan’s Fishing Club was founded in 1987 to promote angling and river rehabilitation, on Lough Derg.

Situated at the Mouth of Lough Derg the main fishing activities are trolling for Pike, Trout and Fly Fishing. The Membership of the Club comes from a wide catchment area and consists of a large family membership. St Flannan’s Fishing Club runs a number of Competitions during the year and assists in the International Pike Fly Competition held in mid September.

An interclub competition for trout was kindly sponsored by Eoin Power, Diarmuid Fitzgerald and John Burns. A mixed day in terms of fishing with only 4 fish weighed in.

3rd Diarmuid Kelly & Niall Raddie 41cm
4th Christopher O Mara 37.5 cm.
The Ballina Killaloe District Anglers claim the honours at this event. Many thanks to the Anchor Inn for hosting and providing finger food on the night.

The Anchor Inn Perpetual competition was held Sunday 16th. There was approx. 15 boats fishing on the day and the trout fishing proved difficult. 3 fish were measured on the night.

1st Patrick Ó Hare 42.5cm
2nd Danny O Sullivan 41cm
3rd John Burns 40cm.
Juvenile J P Ó Hare. 42.5cm.

Over 15 anglers took to the lake for yesterday’s pike competition, kindly sponsored by Mike Kiely of Shannonside Baits.

There was a total of 17 fish caught.

1st Prize - Eoin Power 108cm

2nd Prize - Evin, John & Tommy Conway 319cm (4fish)

3rd Prize - Danny O’Sullivan 105cm

Juvenile Prize - John Conway 93cm
