The Golden Lion is a traditional pub in the heart of York's historic city. Only a minute's walk from York Minster, we are in a perfect location to rest up after sightseeing around the beautiful city. We're proud to say our menu is packed with British pub classics, including iconic dishes like our hand-battered fish and chips, pies and succulent burgers. Our drinks include a great range of real ales, wines, cocktails and alcohol-free options. With live sports across Sky and TNT Sports, a beer garden for those summer days and a family and dog-friendly welcome, we have everything for great times. The team look forward to welcoming you soon at this fantastic traditional pub in York.

With the Shambles just around the corner and so much of York waiting to be explored on our doorstep, we’re perfectly placed for a pit stop while you’re out and about.

The transformation is well underway, with plenty happening behind the scenes.
It’s definitely looking more building site than pub at the moment 👀 but the team are hard at work getting everything ready for the new-look Golden Lion.
Here’s a little peek behind the scenes while they get stuck in.
Plenty more to come! 🙌
