I was pleased to join the discussion at yesterday’s WorldSkills Learner Voice Roundtable in Welshpool alongside Adam Pike, our Senior Chef de Partie at Pant-yr-Ochain, part of Brunning & Price.
Jointly hosted by Cambrian Training Company and NPTC Group of Colleges, the event brought together learners, employers and education partners to discuss the future of apprenticeships and vocational learning in Wales.
As panellists, Adam and I contributed perspectives on developing talent within hospitality and the role employers play in supporting career progression.
It was particularly rewarding to hear Adam reflect on his Level 3 Professional Cookery apprenticeship and his achievements at Skills Competition Wales. His progress demonstrates the value of giving colleagues opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence and pursue excellence.
Thank you to the organisers, facilitator Lisa Mytton and fellow panellists for a constructive discussion on strengthening pathways into skilled employment and ensuring learner voices inform future skills development.
