A Heartfelt Update from The Bull’s Head ❤️
This is probably one of the hardest messages we’ve ever had to write.
After five wonderful years at The Bull’s Head, we're heartbroken to share that the long-term future of our time here has become uncertain.
We had sincerely hoped to secure the long-term future of the pub through a purchase backed by an investor. Things were looking positive just last week. Unfortunately, Marston Brewery have decided not to sell, and the alternative renewal terms on offer are simply untenable.
We’ve explored every avenue to find a way forward. We’ve poured so much love, time and energy into The Bull’s Head and the thought of having to say goodbye truly breaks our hearts.
We're currently in the process of agreeing a short-term extension that would allow us to continue into the new year. Beyond that, the pub's future remains uncertain.
But please don't mistake this announcement for a goodbye. We're very much open for business and nothing about the experience you know and love at The Bull’s Head is changing.
The same wonderful team, the same authentic food and the same warm welcome await you.
AND WE HAVEN’T GIVEN UP!!
We'll continue to press Marston’s to reconsider selling The Bull’s Head to an investor who would secure our future here.
We firmly believe The Bull’s Head sits outside Marston’s current operating model and longer-term aspirations. A sale would not only secure a positive future for the pub, its team and the community, but would also release capital for Marston’s to reinvest in another pub better aligned with their business strategy. Surely, that's an outcome worth exploring?
We intend to make our case at every level of the organisation, right up to the very top if necessary. We'll keep fighting for the future of The Bull’s Head until our very last day.
Over the past five years, The Bull’s Head has become so much more than a pub to us. We’ve watched families grow, celebrated birthdays and special occasions, shared countless laughs, mourned shoulder-to-shoulder through difficult times, and welcomed so many familiar faces back through our doors.
Along the way, valued customers have become cherished friends, and some have come to feel like family.
What makes this especially heartbreaking is knowing how much this place means not just to us, but to our wonderful team and the community around us.
To everyone who has supported us, whether you’ve visited once or a hundred times, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You’ve helped us build something truly special, and whatever happens next, those memories will stay with us forever.
We're looking forward to a wonderful festive season together, including one of our favourite traditions — welcoming friends, neighbours and their visiting families for a drink (or three!) on Christmas Day before everyone heads home to enjoy Christmas dinner with their loved ones. There's something truly special about seeing the pub filled with familiar faces and festive cheer on Christmas morning.
And of course, our infamous New Year's Eve dinner party will be going ahead as usual, complete with music, fireworks and a complimentary glass of fizz to welcome in 2027! 🥂🎆
Christmas celebrations and bookings will continue as normal, and we're determined to make this festive season one to remember.
And if you'd like to support our efforts to secure a future here, the most meaningful thing you can do is simply keep visiting us. Every meal, every gathering and every familiar face through our doors means more than you might imagine.
We're not saying goodbye. We're looking forward to celebrating with you, and we'll keep fighting for the opportunity to make many more memories together.
With all our love and gratitude,
Omm, Martin & The Bull’s Head Team ❤️
