Some people took up yoga during lockdown. Others perfected their banana bread. Josh Wroxton took up songwriting and, thankfully hasn't stopped!

Describing himself as a “Singer, Songwriter, Overall No-Hoper”, Josh brings a wonderfully offbeat approach to songwriting, drawing inspiration from The Beautiful South, Bo Burnham, Ba*****ed Ladies and artists whose names don't begin with B.

His songs are clever, characterful and packed with wit. As Nightshift Magazine put it, they're “a lot cleverer than it is memorable”.

Curious? Good. That's what the Grassroots Music Showcase is all about.

Catch Josh alongside Floodplain and Mica Bernard at Fiery Bird on Friday 13 November.

Ready for some seriously heavy riffs?

Guildford five-piece Floodplain are bringing their hard rock and grunge-inspired sound to the Grassroots Music Showcase at Fiery Bird on Friday 13 November.

Drawing inspiration from the 1990s grunge scene, Floodplain deliver searing guitar riffs, a powerful heavy sound and a live show made for anyone who likes their rock loud.

With new music consistently in the works, this is your chance to catch a band continuing to make their mark on the grassroots circuit.

If heavy guitars and grunge-fuelled energy are your thing, you won't want to miss this one. Also performing on the night are Josh Wroxton and Mica Bernard

GRASSROOTS MUSIC SHOWCASE | FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER

Our Grassroots Music Showcase returns to the Fiery Bird with another hand-picked line-up of outstanding songwriters and musicians from across the grassroots circuit.

Floodplain bring the heavy guitar riffs, hard rock and grunge-inspired energy.

Josh Wroxton delivers witty, offbeat songwriting with influences spanning The Beautiful South, Bo Burnham and Ba*****ed Ladies.

And Mica Bernard blends warm, soulful vocals with a folky sound and honest, heartfelt lyrics.

Three different artists. Three different sounds. One stage bringing musical scenes together and giving audiences the chance to discover their next favourite act.

We’re proud to be presenting this night of excellent new music in its 15th year. Come and discover what the grassroots circuit has to offer.

Pride & Prejudice - The Hoedown Edition’ - a fun-filled event that involves a line-dancing lesson (absolutely no experience required) and a live theatrical show that has you up and dancing at various points. It finishes on a wedding disco so just kick back and go freestyle!

It’s Austen - but not as you know it. It’s 1930 and we’re in the Deep South where Mrs Bennet is running a bar with her daughters Lizzie and Lydia. She’s still looking for well-dressed men in possessions of fortunes for her unmarried daughters. Let the chaos ensue!

Part watching, part doing - this is designed to leave your worries at the door and have a fun filled few hours watching, laughing, dancing and laughing some more! Got 5* reviews on opening show in Epsom - and recommended quite literally for anyone (over 16): groups, couples, flying solo. Inclusive and fun. No dancing experience required - just enthusiasm!

Join us this Friday for the first Pride and Prejudice - The Hoedown Edition, in Woking!

Thrilled for our pals redstart.community
They’ve opened their fantastic community led grassroots music venue in Redhill. Like Woking, before this there was no venue on their town either. It’s what happens when people are committed to make something become a reality. Delighted to come and share their celebrations and congratulations to their team. Wishing them every success!
