Delighted to host our fantastic Venue Ambassadors ‘The Dustbowl Sinners’ who are launching their latest album, ‘Hadacol, Hank & Heartache’ with us on 25th September

From the unrelenting windswept plains of Byfleet & New Haw, and the brutal wilderness that is Chertsey, comes the musicians' collective known as "The Dustbowl Sinners".
Formed in the dark winter nights of early 2018 from a pedigree of bands like minded collaborators gathered, playing soulful Roots and Americana music, to release from the merciless savagery of day to day existence in the abyss of wretchedness that is the Surrey Delta. Stomping good music has spread the activism of their fine work in the service of song to gigs and festivals around the country

Author Paolo Hewitt is back at Fiery Bird with a very special event. A dramatic interpretation of Towards The Dream the collection of both of his books, The Looked After Kid and But We All Shine On about his time in care, including in Burbank Children’s Home in Woking.

He will be joined on stage by acclaimed actor George Russo (co-writer and star of the Netlix film Villain) for this unique dramatic interpretation of his moving and inspiring memoirs.

Paolo Hewitt is an author, screenwriter, and music journalist whose lifelong passion for books and music began during a difficult childhood in care. Moving to London at 19, he quickly broke into the music press, joining Melody Maker before moving to the NME, where he became an early and influential writer on hip hop and the emerging Acid House scene.
Since going freelance in 1990, Paolo has written for publications worldwide and published numerous acclaimed books, including definitive biographies of Oasis and The Small Faces, as well as his memoir, Toward The Dream, about his experiences in care. His work spans music, culture, football, fashion and personal memoir, establishing him as a distinctive and enduring voice in British popular culture.

Enda McCabe | 18 October

Born and raised in Dublin, Enda sings, plays guitar and mandola and tells stories. He lived in England for twenty five and raised his daughters in Kent. He returned to Ireland in 1998 and lives in the Conamara Gaeltacht, Co Galway.

Enda will also be running a songwriting workshop.

We are delighted to welcome Paolo Hewitt back to Fiery Bird for a very special event on 27 September

Paolo will be featuring his new book, Towards The Dream which brings together for the first time his two acclaimed books on his life in care, The Looked After Kid and But We All Shine On. However, this will not be a reading in the traditional sense , but a presentation of the book using other artists to illustrate the words. All will be revealed on the day.

Looking forward to having Kate Kerrigan back on 23rd September with her fantastic show that always sells out. ‘Am I Irish Yet?’ has toured the UK & Ireland to sell out shows even with adding dates and touring again. With storytelling and humour from this twice New York Times best selling author, Kate speaks of the experience so many have, being born in a different country to their parents and the crossovers and confusions that brings, especially during the 70’s & 80’s in the UK. Irish here, then taking their English accents back over to Ireland every Summer, cars full of stuff to bring back to the aunts, helping with the jobs. Irish here, English there.

Just over 3 months ago we had this amazing gig at the fabulous Fiery Bird Live Music Venue supporting the always bodacious Balaam and the Angel and cracking Claytown Troupe .

Our next gig is with the delicious 𝕯𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖑𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝕯𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 at The Tuppenny in Swindon on Thursday 17th September. Free entry so be there for what will be a Deadlight Sacrifice night! 💜🖤💜🖤
